ZZZOMG!!!!111!! Check out my new monitor!
HA! I LOVE it too much!

A year ago we bought a new TV from Sears with our tax return. It was an extremely large purchase for us but we felt like we were a little bit ahead for the first time(ever) and my whole family are movie fanatics so we bought a 37" Protron high-def LCD TV. It cost 700 dollars. I don't normally "fall for" purchasing extended warranty coverage but my wife talked me into it this time, bless her.

A few months ago I got rid of cable and since the TV had a built in digital tuner We just bought a nice antenna and watched local stations in HD for free. I loved it but about a month ago the Digital tuner on the Protron DIED. No TV at all. I could still watch DVD just fine but no over the air digital at all. Sears came out three times. The technician finally threw his hands up and declared the TV un-fixable. He said he had never seen anything like it.

According to the extended warranty we were entitled to a new TV. Nice. Long story short we received a $1200 credit (yep, 500 bucks more than we originally paid!) and got a shiny new 42" Samsung with a minimum of angry phone calls and running around (good on you Sears!)

So now here I am in possession of a shiny new Samsung and guess what? At no time during the entire process has the old semi-functional Protron ever been mentioned by Sears. Nada. Zip. Etc... I made a subtle point of never mentioning the thing but was pretty sure that at some point Sears would be asking me "When would be a good time to come pick up the old TV?" They have not. Um, Wow.

Most newer TVs are designed to also serve as computer monitors and I'd always wanted to hook ours up just to see how it would look/perform but I never got around too it. Well I got around to it this weekend! It's FAN-fucking-tastic!

My wife and I decided to let me play with it as a monitor for 30 days and if by that time Sears hasn't called looking for it we are going to sell it on a local Yahoo board but in the mean time I get to have a big ol' 37" monitor! And who knows maybe in a month my wife will forget our little agreement. (You never know.)
