I got all my posts deleted from a "liberal" website. The CA gay marriage thang. This guy says he's such a good liberal but he thinks gay marriage is evil. So I said I said if you have a problem with gay marriage then don't marry another guy, but I'm a citizen too and deserve the same rights. I didn't attack him or even swear. And I get banned?

Seriously, I recently ran into the same kind of thing. I bought the latest release from one of my favorite bands not too long ago. I thought that their lyrics had a liberal slant to them from listening to previous albums. Right off the bat, on the first song on the new record, there are some lyrics that can only be construed as anti-gay. I was very disappointed.

We have seen a whole lot of that same behavior here over and over and over again. I've especially noticed it agains LGBT people and against women. :(

I'm sick of it. Why is the hate always directed at us and women? I don't get it, And aren't we libs the loving and understanding ones?

Women still only make 79 cents on the dollar and gay bashing is OK. I thought we had evolved! It's why I keep coming back here - I often disagree with people (and that's cool) but I can't name a DUer who is truly anti-gay or anti-woman.

I see how easily men still reduce women to "damned bitches" and start joking about rape, and I cringe. Signs of hatred against women get to me more often than anything else because they're so common.

Every time there is a gay bashing in the news doesn't it seem like someone is protesting that they don't really hate gay people? But somehow they're still beating us up. There are always rationalizations and excuses, but it still keeps happening.

LGBT rights is possibly the one topic on which I'm most progressive. And that's speaking as a het-male, for whatever that's worth. Even before I was blessed with such friends, I still recognized it as a fairly fundamental civil right.

It's completely absurd for anyone who considers themselves liberal or progressive to oppose gay marriage. And I STILL haven't heard a single legitimate reason as to why marriage HAS to be between a man and a woman.

Gas is $3.75, people are hungry, people are getting kicked out of their homes, and some get their knickers in a bunch because two guys or two girls marriage benefits.

Gay marriage is TRULY an issue that falls into the category of "there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so". I have no idea how people can believe that a downfall of society would occur if two guys were to get married.

On a related note, I'm listening to Interfaith Voices (a rebroadcast) on NPR and they had some guy on who WAS gay but he went to Exodus International and he's all better now! :eyes: I can't imagine the stress of living my life convinced I'm something I'm not out of fear of hell. :cry:

25. Every time I read posts like this it slays me.

Even my 85 year old grandmother knows and accepts that love is love and no one is asking anyone to do anything more than live and let live. It honestly breaks my heart (what is left of it), that you have to deal with this too often...when it shouldn't be the case at all. It should just be.
