Lifelong Red Sox fan needs new team. Recommendations?
I know it doesn't make sense, but I liked them a lot better when they never won the series. Now, it just seems anything less would be a letdown.

So, who should be my new team and why?

13. Cowgirl up!
You might be right. I have friends that will disown me if they find out I am looking around. I feel like I'm about to have an affair.

2. The Tampa Bay Rays seem to be the new upstarts.
Never had an above .500 season. Fun to watch, plus if you buy any of their gear, my local economy gets a chunk of it.

They're my second favorite AFTER the Red Sox.

15. I've got friends on Treasure Island.
Would be a great excuse to visit them.

Is the stadium indoors? It gets so hot there in summer.

16. The Trop is a dome, yes.
Though they're bucking for an open-air waterfront stadium. Because, well, it's stupid. That's a decade away, though.

6. Good choice - terminal underdogs, that's what I like.
But I'm really an AL fan. My son's a pitcher, so I go for that whole DH thing.

7. I know how you feel.
The Red Sox used to be my secondary rooting team. Not once they got Schilling though. Never could stand him.

As a life-long Phillies fan, it was kind of sad when they finally won the World Series in '80. And they had to do it with Pete Rose, who I detest.

I was one year old when they had last won a pennant (1950), and my dad was born the year they won one before that (1915). And there was no curse to keep us happy, like you had with the babe. We did have the famous collapse of 1964 though, a real classic.
But they hadn't been very good for a fairly long time again, so I did savor them beating up on the Mets last year.
No way I could root for another team though.

20. I like the Phillies.
I like Philadelphia. Just not sure I can make the leap to the NL.

I have such a long history with the RedSox. Abandoning them will be hard, but abandoning the whole league might be harder.

1. Up and coming team, but they are a few years from the series
2. They play at home in a nice dome, so there are no rainouts
3. They have the best announcer in baseball (Bob Uecker) bar none (his sidekick, Jim Powell, is good as well). I listen on mlb.com
4. Any team sponsored by Miller beer and Usingers (the best sausage and bratwurst in the world, bar none) can't be all bad
5. Outside of Milwaukee, who the Hell roots for them, except me? You'd be unique.

22. I know. It's crazy.
But I see some Sox fans beginning to look like Yankees fans - all arrogant and self-righteous. Also, I had some Colorado fans really let loose on me and I kind of felt sorry for them.

Baseball is my only sport, so those other teams don't interest me.

They have always been my NL faves, but I'm really an AL girl.

Do love that stadium, though, and I've got two kids in Chicago. So maybe I will rethink this. I love an underdog.

26. Wrigley Field is as close to Baseball Mecca as could be
It was built back when - it's part of the "Goat Curse" even.

They still make Chicago things like hot dogs grilled with fresh onions (mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)

If you don't want to pay for admission, you can always go to one of the nearby bars, order a drink and sit up on the roof.

The thing is made out of BRICKS for god sakes!!!

It's the soul of baseball.

That, for me, is why I like the Cubs. Their teams, their management - meh. It's about Wrigley - period.

I used to go to Wrigley as a child before they got the lights. All day games. Brings back wonderful memories.

I promise, they'll never disappoint you because there are no expectations of anything good.

By the way, I get what you are saying. I told my brother (A Sox fan) after they won they would become just another team now. I was half wrong, now they are just one of the few bloated payroll elites that dominate the league.
