I was just on my school website, and it's telling me that I owe $1169.40. My financial aid was supposed to cover everything. When I got my excess financial aid check in Feb, it seemed a bit large, but I didn't think much of it. Then I got another check a couple weeks ago for $285.96. Now they're saying I owe money, and it's due 6/2. The page I looked at didn't even include the $285, so let's say it's actually $1455.36.

I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY.

I think I'm going to puke. Or cry. Or both. Because you know, when they fuck up, it's never their fault, and the student is held liable.

Why didn't I get a bill? Why didn't they put a hold on my registration?! Why the FUCK did they give me another check?!

I don't know what the fuck to do. x(

They might agree to do that, and then your financial aid for next semester can cover the balance.

Don't believe it until it is proven to you. You may not have gotten a bill for a very good reason.

Collect your paperwork, figure out your side, call them up and talk.

You may just have a clueless data entry clerk making a mistake.

31. The Army over paid me on my last paycheck in 1991.

I never knew since it was all prorated. It took them three years to inform me of their error and that I owed the government the over payment plus interest (fucking OUCH) and by the way the amount was considered Months past due (at the date upon which I received the first letter informing me of the overpayment) and was subsequently and duly reported to the credit bureaus thus ruining my credit into this decade. They also took my tax returns for years.

It does SUCK to owe the government ANYTHING. Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
