Feel the need for a bitch session? ... Feel free to join me!
Edited on Mon May-12-08 08:12 AM by Breeze54
:hi:

I'll start... my first bitch of the day... the weather!!! :grr:

I know I probably shouldn't be complaining compared to all the earthquake and tornado victims but I'm freezing my ass off and I'm sooooo sick of this "winter" weather here!! Cripes! It's the middle of May and the temp is 42 F but it so windy that it feels like 30 F and my windows are all rattling from the wind and making that howling sound, like during a blizzard! I'm wearing a turtleneck, a sweatshirt, flannel jogging pants and wool socks... in May! It's dark and cloudy here and it actually looks like it's going to snow and feels like a late November morning.... Brr! I went out to the store this morning and had to actually wear my winter coat! I need warmer weather... Now!! I've been trying to clean out my house & basement but it's either raining here or really cold every time I try. :grr: Make it stop!!

PS. I checked to see what the "normal" temp is for May in MA and it says 58 F.

1. I'll see you your weather, and raise you one busted shower.
It's 38 degrees here, I just looked at my thermometer. x( AND - I just went to get in the shower and the hot water handle is busted. Spinning freely, as if the inside of it is stripped. I'm NOT taking a cold shower - that's just not an option. I HAVE to take a shower before I go to work - so skipping one is not an option (not today) - so I guess I get to sit around and wait until a hardware store opens or something - and then hope I can fix it. x(

Edited on Mon May-12-08 08:19 AM by Breeze54
You probably stripped the nut... get that plumbers tape and a new nut?

I watch "This Old House" a lot. ;) I hope you get your shower asap!

And yeah, that tops mine! :P I have a working shower.

6. Well...
The way the plumbing is put together is screwed up. I'm HOPING that I can just find new handles that fit on and work - and that it's the handles that are stripped. If not - the only way to replace anything is to rip out the entire wall. :( Not good AT ALL.

10. Can you get a screwdriver and take the handle off?
Then you might be able to use the vise grip to turn on the hot water.

32. No vice grip - BUT
After I shook the sleep off a bit I had a thought... unscrewed the cold handle and used it to operate the hold AND the cold -leaving it loose. Whew. Got a shower, got to work, and can worry about plumbing some other time. Never do today what can be put off until tomorrow!

3. You're not gonna like this, but I like this weather!
I hate the heat and I dread the summer months. It's 50 degrees here; a great day for gardening. My "perfect" temperature is 65 degrees.

4. You wouldn't like this weather... it's very uncomfortable.
I like it around 65/70 too but this is blustery, cold, damp, gray, cloudy weather. The kind
that makes you want to curl up in the couch and have soup! ;) And it's still to cold here
to plant anything, another thing I'm ticked off about. Enjoy your gardening! ;)

The date to plant (annuals, that is) around here is Memorial Day.

5. Hope your weather improves soon..
I can just barely move my hand, and I'll have to type all day.
My own fault. I even got approved for a vacation day, but (like the idiot I am) decided late last night I didn't need it & canceled it.
Going to be a long day.

bitter and pissed off. And I am totally paralyzed. It suuuuucks.

I haven't kissed anyone since 2003. And that's starting to grate a little bit.

I have a pile of housework to do and don't have the energy.

I'm just not feeling our potential nominee right now. Don't think I can. I tried, but no go. What I am feeling is bad nostalgia for 2004.

9. *** HUGS ***

I think you should try to have some hope. I think we're going to win this one, I really do.

I can't remember the last time I kissed anyone either, it might have been in 2004.

I, as I stated above, also have a ton of housework and cleaning to do. We're supposed
to move at some point and I haven't even made a dent in what needs to be thrown out. :grr:

Maybe you need to put on some music and forget the news for a day or two?

That helps me sometimes, especially when it's the same discussions about the primaries, over and over. Ugh!

12. Fishing trip
Edited on Mon May-12-08 10:16 AM by Rambis
I have been going on a trip with the same three guys for the last few years. This year my brother is bringing his son. I am bummed out about it because we have everyting down to a science on every aspect of the trip, boat cottage you name it. The nephew has a major alcohol problem and we have been known to drink a wee bit. My brother asked me if it was ok in front of his wife and the kid? WTF am I supposed to say leave the sot at home we already have two others? I am in charge of the drink and therefore have three cases of Smithwicks. Do I bring an extra case or two for this kid? He looked like he was living rough yesterday at mothers day.

Not happy!

Edited on Mon May-12-08 11:34 AM by Breeze54
I'd say get the extra case or two of the cheap stuff (Bud) and keep him passed out and subdued!

That was unfair of your brother to ask you that in front of others.

I mean, what else were you going to say, without pissing off someone?

I hope the trip goes better...

14. I have not had an operable washing machine since last Tuesday
I am waiting for the service guy to call me after he has picked up the parts.

I really do not wish to go to the coin-op laundry (nearest one is 12 mile away anyway) unless I have to.

I am wearing the dregs of my wardrobe. As is my daughter and husband.

Laundry mats aren't that bad!

Bring some cold beer and people watch while you wash!

We have laundry mats next to bars and packies here! :P

Maybe tomorrow. The fundage is too low today.

And yes, I love this weather. I'm anti-heat, especially after three and a half winters in a room with no heat at all. It's to the point where if I go anywhere warm it really hits me. And as a hockey type guy I've always been a winter fan. My thinking is it's much easier to get warm than to get cool. And my attic room gets waaaay too hot in the summer, so I'll take this any day.

Be careful with those beef dogs...they're killing me. :puke:

21. Lyric sites suck

YahooLyrics particularly pisses me off. They have most lyrics but you can't cut and paste from their site.

All the rest are polluted with quick popups and such.

Why can't there just be a lyric site with lyrics and itune adds with the lyrics and a few banners?

There are some sites better than others. When the good ones don't have what you want you have to dig around in the dirt for lyrics.

22. A few people I work with are complete morons and/or
just completely unreasonable.

I evaluate job performances of some 30 people. One person in particular received a glowing report from me. She basically exceeded my expectations in everything! I received a formal letter last week from her stating that she wants to formally protest my evaluation of her because when she counted up the exceeds expectations marks vs the proficient, the exceeds marks did not exceed the proficient marks by enough of a percentage I guess. I mean, what can I do? Her evaluation can go no higher! :eyes:

34. Stray cat outside
People across the street moved and left their cat. They still come over to get their mail and we (my neighbor and I) have confronted them about it and they deny that he was ever their's. So, I have inherited an unfixed 13-18 month old male. And I say "I" because my neighbor leaves her door open (all the time-refuses to turn her air on) and the cat comes in and sprays and tries to beat up her sickly cat (who really should be kept in at all times), so she chases him off w/ a squirt gun. This cat is incredibly sweet and affectionate (lets you rub his belly) and very vocal (part Siamese, I think). So, I've taken on the responsibility of getting him fixed (next month hopefully) and feeding him, while she chases him, yells at him and kicks at him.

Isn't there a "No Kill" shelter near you that can take it in?
That's impressive that you're paying for a stray to be
neutered. I'd have to ignore it and hope it went home or bring
it to a shelter. I have an old friend that sets traps and catches
ferrel cats and spays them and then finds them homes.

Bless her and you! ;)

36. There's a super cheap place in town
only costs $25. I'm hoping once I've done that, I can convince my friend to take him. If he was wild or mean, I'd probably wouldn't go to the trouble, but he is SOOOOOOO sweet. He just wants to be loved. He sleeps on my front step at night. I'd keep him, but I already have 3 10+ year old cats and one is a very aggressive, cranky male. I have to keep him separated from the oldest cat in the house (older than him by maybe a year) because he tries to kill her. It's very stressful.
