11. They are still affordable.
The Austin Healy Sprite is basically the same car, and the ones that have the similar front end to the Midget are also affordable. Parts are plentiful from specialist parts vendors and from Ebay. I'm really having fun with it. Much more fun than my foray into VW diesels a couple of years back.

2. I question the little yellow fan's effectiveness.
Those Webers on the side?

4. NO, they're SUs. Probably stock. Webers didn't have those dashpots for the jets.

6. Yup, the stock H2 SUs.
The fan works OK. It has the cutest tiny crossflow radiator. We shall see how well it works in 100+ temps. Oil collers are just a web order away.

3. MG Midget. 1969-1971, from the side-marker lights and three wipers. Twin SUs, which
I could still balance for you with a foot of garden hose and two minutes.

...Can I drive? Please?

5. We should match our carb kung fu sometime.
I will be using the hose method.

Your MG mojo is strong. It is a 1969. It has a 1275 that may be original. The numbers are correct for the VIN. I found a 3.7 rear in a local yard and installed it for a little reduction in the cruise RPMs. If you are ever in So cal, you are certainly welcome to take it out for a spin.

7. Oh, God, you have The Fever, don't you?
We'll talk of English sports cars in the future, especially if you'll remind me to do so via PM, because I'm damn tired tonight and must sign off soon.

Wasn't it good for me to read the words "Your MG mojo is strong," so long after my English Sports Car days (which included racing a truly monstrous MGB in SCCA E Class - though I think they may have moved 1800-CC cars to F-class since then).

I'm off to bed, and to dream of MGs, Triumphs, and Turners of my past, and I thank you for a post that served as the trigger for those pleasant dreams.

8. It's a new world for me.
This is only my second English car. My first, an Alpine series 1, I sold in the mid 1980s. I bought this as a way to make some money on my way to a Spitfire, but I really like it. I am planning to sell my american toys, the '68 Cougar and the '58 Ford, and the English cars will be a way to still have fun yet drive thrifty. I am now getting a Bugeye jones as well. Yeah, I have the fever! G'night! :hi:
