Finally! A doctor's appointment!!
I've tried to get in to see my old back doctor a few times, but she never had any appointments, and I kept thinking "meh, it'll get better on its own".

Now, over 8 weeks later, it's not better, so I tried again. No go. Tried another medical group that sounded perfect! Osteopaths and pain management specialists - but there's no way to see them without a referral from another doctor. Grrr...

I just got a call from the old back doc - she's got an opening Monday morning. Whoohooo! Hopefully she'll do SOMETHING that will allow me to get a night's sleep. I can't sleep more than two hours at a time before the back gets all hurty and I have to get up. And this has been going on for over two months! I probably average 4 hours of sleep per day, broken up into two or three sessions. That can't be healthy.

1. I'm glad you are finally getting in..
Our health care system is so screwed up. I was pleased that I was able to get an appointment with the specialist at Mayo three weeks after I contacted them. I figured it would have been longer.
Sorry to hear how bad it is. I hope you get some kind of treatment that helps..

2. the system just gets worse and worse
I was stunned to learn recently that my childhood family doctor is still practicing.

He worked out of a house in a little neighborhood. If you were real sick, he'd come to the house to treat you. It was so simple.
