What if Gore would have won....
I'm sure many people have gone through this: You're talking to someone (who's a conservative) and they throw out "well I'm just glad we have Bush and not Gore, cuz Gore would have been a big pussy and backed down to terrorists ....." Is anyone else sick of this? My older brother just said that to me in an email (he's the third person in as many days to tell me this) and I want to tell him he's a retard but he's my brother so I have to be nice:)

I think the whole concept is stupid. Maybe if Gore would have been in power there wouldn't have been a 9/11 catastrophe. Maybe I would have no problems finding a job. Maybe my college tuition wouldn't have gone up 20% in three years.
Maybe martians would have invaded and took over the planet :tinfoilhat:

Thanks for letting me vent

1. Two things..
Gore wouldn't have ignored his own report on airline safety.
Gore woudn't have ignored the Hart-Ruddman report on airline safety.
Either one of those reports would have brought the flaws in our airline security to light, and perhaps something would have changed before 9/11.

I could say more, but this really belongs in GD.

I've heard the same thing, and the two statements above shut them up.
(Mainly becuase they have no idea what I'm talking about.)

6. Don't worry about it...
I'm not a mod, so I can't even fathom to guess.
If they want to move it, they'll move it. No harm done.

But yes, I feel frustrated, too when people say "What if Gore won?" and then give me a blank stare when I detail what I think would happen if Gore was inagurated President. They don't expect a detailed answer...

2. Gore DID win
what if he had been allowed to serve? I believe the events of 9-11 would never have happened.

3. It WOULD have happened.
It was planned for several years.

We would most likely have invaded Afghanistan aswell. Maybe in a smaller way, aimed to get Bin Laden and not just blow up the whole country.

Doubt Iraq

8. Or was it?
There's theory saying they were planning it way back during Clinton's term. I can buy that, given the 1993 WTC attack.

There's also many theories, the most notable saying that Bushie* and corporate america tried to make a 'deal' with the Taliban, giving them money, and other things, just so they could build a pipeline. The Taliban refused so Bushco* was going to attack them...

Dunno. Doesn't make a difference either way: Here's what is indisputable: There WAS chatter before 9/11. Bush even knew about the hijackings beforehand, but decided that the passengers' safety were not important (typical Bush* strategery...). Foreign countries knew and warned the US. Bush ignored 'em all and continued masturbating in the bathroom. Best case scenario: Bush decided that one or two hostage killings was okay, but didn't fathom the possibility the planes would be used. Bush is still evil, regardless of ALL the facts. As he had known, he should have done something so nobody would get hijacked and go through the hell involved.

5. Hey, you're suggesting Gore *didn't* win...
...when he clearly did.

However, your point is well taken.

"What if...?" doesn't really work for either side, however. It's just chasing our tails. What's more important is "What could happen from this point onward?".

7. No 9/11
Gore won.

If he had been allowed to serve, then 9/11 would not have happened at all.

That is what I always tell reich wingers.
