Trust me, I've had to replace keyboards before, but it's not because someone made a funny joke. :hide:

Nominate your own tired internet phrases here.

1. Any phrase that starts with "Folks,"
The poster addressing the lowly masses from on high.

We need a moratorium on "folks".

12. I'm getting a little tired of threads starting with "So"
Followed by a first-person-past-tense account described in present tense.

"So I'm at the bus stop when this guy---etc etc etc"

14. How about we change the meaning:
"you owe me a new keyboard" is no longer used when someone post something surprisingly funny, but rather is the reply when someone post a picture that is sexually stimulating?

15. The use of the term "non-starter"
As in "Finnfan, your idea to eliminate 'you owe me a new keyboard' from the lexicon is a non-starter." I despise the term and the patronizing subtext beneath it.

I also loathe "I read your post, and I'd like that 30 seconds of my life back, please." Again, very smarmy.

28. One I-word that IRRITATES the SHIT out of me is ILK. I know what it means.
I know why people use it but I also know that with RARE exception that anyone geek enough to utter it IRL, say in front of IRL coworkers etc... would be met by, at best, blank stares and/or mild taunting and at worst wedgies and/or severe beatings. Sorry geeks. Deal with it.

Like Chris Knight to Kent I must ask: "Who talks that way?" (You see, this puts the word "Ilk" on par with the phrase "rue the day" making it obnoxiously "geeky" (and the user with it)).

Thank you.

What a day. What a day.

Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 10:24 AM by Amerigo Vespucci
..."OBAMA COMING UP RIGHT NOW ON CSPAN"...

...and a few others.

Oh yeah, this one...a word, not a phrase, but if I could turn a word into a rigid sigmoidoscope and use it to give the poster a colonoscopy, it would be this one:

LINK???

Also anything with "(Fill in name here) just got OWNED" or "(Fill in name here) just got PWNED"...the only thing those threads tell me is that the post is originating from the basement of the poster's parents' house.
