the fact I just got 'Excellent' comments on my 2 history essays i managed to finish writing moments before they were due in, one being a review of a book I had only read the intro and conclusion of.

I'm not trying to brag here, I was genuinely shocked when I got the results, I clearly did not deserve them. Shame they count nothing to wards my degree :)

Or, perhaps, isn't great that they count nothing towards your degree? Its kind of useful to actually know something about the content of your degree. Dude, I think ya got lucky on these two! :P

4. Similar experience with SGI certification

SGI = Silicon Graphics

I had to get certified for my last job, and I opted for the self-study method. Did OK on the first 3 tests (passed), then came down with a whopper of a cold before the 4th. Barely cracked the book, and it was on the "Advanced" systems administration functions. I felt like crap the day of the test too, and yet ended up with my highest score! Still can't figure that out.
