Kitties in the laundry room (Warning: Pics)
Serengeti: “There’s that shiny thing with the string hanging off it that Mom’s always pointing at me. Yeah, that’s worth waking up for!”
Sylvester: “Go back to sleep, kid.”

Serengeti: “I’m awake ... Can I have the shiny thing now?”
Sylvester: “I’m just going to lie here until he moves his tail again. That’ll teach him to wake me up.”

Serengeti: “Hehehe ... Simon doesn’t know I’m going to attack him!”

Sylvester: “Gotcha, ya little whippersnapper!”

Sylvester: “Hey ... where did it go?”

Sheba: “I’m smiling ... Take the picture now!”
Simon: “What in the world is Satchmo doing down there?”

Sheba: “These kids are hopeless.”
Simon: “This is my best side.”

Sheba: “This is my sexy look.”

Sarabi: “What’s all that racket?”

Sabrina: “Teehee! You’d have to get up pretty early to beat me to the dryer bed.”

Satchmo: “OK, Mom, cool your jets ... I have to check out that ... Thing ... Something ... There WAS something there!”

Satchmo: “Can I get down and behave now?”

This message is brought to you by AirmensMom's kitties* ... well, most of them. The two "I want to be an only child" ones did not want to have their pictures taken with the rest of the crowd.

*Let it be known that Simon is actually MissHoneyChurch's baby, but he lives with us and she calls him her godkitty. :D

1. Great photos!
You're cats are beautiful! :-)

I've been gone since Saturday. I'm sure Widget and Gracie have called the ASPCA and reported themselves abandoned... 4 bowls of water, 2 clean litter boxes and I opened the food container so the food doesn't run out.

I'll home tonight and they'll snub me after I put everything back in order. ;)

Widget and Gracie wouldn't be real kitties if they didn't snub you after being left for so long. But then they'll want to sleep with you and all will be right with the world. :hi:

I got in around 8:30 last night. Widget is 15 and weighs about 16 pounds. He had my feet pinned and Gracie is only about 8 pounds, but she was glued to my stomach. I'm so stiff this morning I can hardly walk, but the cats are happy and that's *ALL* that matters. ;)

He thinks Sheba is the most beautiful kitty of them all. I told him not to say that in front of the others. Satchmo's Mamma's boy ... I think he's the most beautiful and sweetest. And I'm not the least bit partial. :silly:

I keep telling him that. But he has a lot to learn about ladies and their jealousy of each other. Especially when some young sexy blue-eyed chick comes on the scene after the faithful grey one had been loyal to him for ... what, seven years? I mean, really! :P

20. Ahem ...
I thought we were talking about harleydad saying that Sheba is the most beautiful. He ain't a teen anymore.

Now Simon is another story. He's more of a teenybopper -- not quite into the ladies yet. He prefers the rough and tumble life of wrestling with his brothers. He only sleeps with Sheba now and then because he thinks she's his mother. She is VERY motherly towards the "youngsters", you know ... even though she's only about 4 months older than Sarabi and maybe almost a year older than Simon.

5. re: "shiny things"
In the past several years, I've lost almost 80 pounds, and my wedding band does not fit anymore. For a while, I wore it on my other hand, but now it falls off that finger, too. Recently, I started wearing my wedding band on a chain around my neck (you can probably see where this is going). Last weekend I got home from a gig in the wee hours, and I was trying to quietly get undressed and into bed when one of the three kittehs notices the shiny, dangly thing around my neck. The attempt of getting into bed quietly without disturbing Mrs. Rat failed miserably as I had a ten-pound tabby trying desperately to pull me and the necklace to the floor.

35. From what AirmensMom tells me about Simon
he is really special. According to her, he is not much of a cuddler. But when you feel down and sad he comes and stays with you, comforts you.

And no, you are not the only one who is missing a kitty in the personal life. Simon is my baby (I adopted him when I visited AirmensMom last year) but she is his mom, I'm his go(o)d mother :)

Unfortunately she doesn't let them out

37. Kitties are so good when we don't feel well.
I didn't know if Simon was going to move in with you or not. They say indoor cats live longer. Our kitty needs outside, but she stays in the yard, unless she visits the kitties one house down, on the same side of the street.

We have a wonderfully mischievous tabby that decided to live with us after being fed outside for a few weeks. She is smart and funny, she had been probably been abused, and so she took some time to get used to my husband, who is big and scary.

She is a lap kitty; she follows me from room to room and has to have a paw in everything. I want to get more kitties so she won’t be so lonely. We are waiting until we move, that way the new cats won’t have to readapt and our current feline will just accept that they came with the house.:P

I live in Germany and last year when I fell in love with that little furball I couldn't take him home with me. So AirmensMom was so kind to welcome him to her feline family. And now I just can't take him away from them. That would be cruel. Unless I take Serengeti with me too :hide:

49. There's just one problem with that ...
You'd have to take Simon as well, since they're best friends. Did I say just one problem? Well, just try to get him past MissHC!

Then, if you take Simon, you have to take Sheba. She thinks she's the mother of the younger ones. But she's in love with Sylvester, so you know what that means. (Sylvester is not codger, actually, he's only 2 or 3 years old and plays like a kitten.) Oh, and we can't forget Sarabi. She's also one of the youngsters that Sheba has adopted as her own baby.

Now, if you have all of them, you have to take Satchmo. He's not one of the youngsters, having just passed his 10th birthday, but he's good friends with his brothers. Did I mention he's a Momma's boy? I'm the Momma. :D Can't let him go. Also, he's Sabrina's baby (for real), so we can't exactly separate them. **sigh** That leaves the unpictured ones, Sophie and Sashka. Sophie would like to be an only kitty, but she's actually good friends with Sabrina. Sashka, on the other hand, is a bit pissed off that her Dad adopted that young blue-eyed "blonde". She might go with you.

I know you're j/k. :hi:

It's the food bills that do. They can't play baseball, silly ... they don't have thumbs!

They don't scream. With nine of them, they must have impeccable manners. They all politely sing at the same time, "Excuse us, Mom and Dad, but is our dinner ready yet? We only want to know so we don't make other plans."

LOL! I like them all, too. I'm glad you do.

41. OK, so I count two Abyssinians, a Maine Coon mix, a Bengal (or Egyptian
Mau) a flame point apple head Siamese (or mix) and two domestic short hairs? That's a whole lotta pussies! And I thought three were a handful! ;-)

They are quite beautiful. How are the Abys? I've heard widely varying accounts; some that they are a exceptionally bright breed (as many of the ancient breeds are), and others say that they have less intelligence than krill. Your take?

 And a Russian Blue and long-haired Tuxedo kitty who didn't want to participate. Nine in all.

The Abys are wonderful.* Ours are very smart, especially Satchmo. They are exceptionally athletic as well. It you have a shelf full of knick-knacks, they can tip-toe through them without disturbing anything ... unless they want to. Satchmo will push things over with his paw if he wants my attention. The Bengal, on the other hand, is the clumsiest kitty I've ever seen. He does well to jump up to the countertop without missing. But he makes up for it in cuteness.

*You do have to watch what you feed them ...

You have gorgeous kitties! I have six kitties of my very own. And a chihuahua and a cockatiel. One kitty is a white Manx, one is a white persian with a blue eye and a green eye and his white 1/2 persian son, one is a gray tabby, one is a Siamese, and one is a pinkish beige kitty. Most of my pets were rescued, even the puppy & bird. My pets are so precious & special-I wish I had a scanner so I could post pics of them too. Maybe someday.

Good for you for rescuing your babies! Most of our kitties and all four dogs are rescues as well. They are such wonderful "people." :loveya:

61. LOL!

Uh ... nine ... :hide:

But they're not all mine! Satchmo and Serengeti are mine. Serengeti's not even a sure thing because he seems to prefer harleydad. Two of them belong to harleykid (lesson learned: if you let your kids adopt a pet, you will become the pet parents when the kids go to college), although they won't be going back to her. One belongs to MissHoneyChurch. The rest ... well ... I suppose we're both responsible, but it's not like we had a choice. Know what I mean?

They have taken over the house. That's the way things are. We do not go to Petsmart on weekends anymore. :P Of course, Sylvester showed up right on our back porch, so we can't even blame him on Petsmart.

68. She's our little sweet 'tater
Not exactly a ball of fire in the brains department, but sweet as can be. Came to our door one night (she saw that sign that said "SUCKERS LIVE HERE" that only cats can see) when it was 15 degrees out, all skin and bones, just shaking from the cold. It took over a year for her to get up to "normal" cat weight, and almost 2 for her to be strong enough to jump on things.

She's not the top cat, though. That honor goes to The Queen (yes, that is her name, including the "The" and the only thing she will answer to).

76. LOL!
I do, too. They look like little bunny feet. She's not a Maine Coon --she's way too tiny (only about 7 pounds). We pretend she's a Norwegian Forest Cat. :D She was found in the woods when she was about 7 months old, all torn up from another animal, with a dead kitten beside her. She still has a little scar on her ear and she's not fond of other animals. She and Sabrina get along, though. They seem to understand each other.

C'mon over. She's a snuggler. But wear a raincoat -- she slobbers when she purrs.

Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 07:24 PM by leftyclimber
Good natured, playful, and generally in a good mood all the time (except when she's not ). She also has a broken jaw that didn't heal right (from well before we adopted her) so she's extra-bonus-slobbery because her lower jaw isn't straight. It doesn't hurt her, though, so its main effect is drool. :)

Edit: spelling error

Thank you. Even the lady who has Serengeti's mom thinks he's amazingly beautiful ... and she sees Bengals all the time. Sylvester is the best "big brother" to the little ones that we could ever hope for. He's very affectionate and never threatening, even though he could take any one of them out with one swipe of those huge paws. :loveya:

We're surviving, with the help of the kitties and doggies to make sure we're too busy to notice the other stuff. :P

Sylvester is a Maine Coon mix, found on the back porch almost 2 years ago. The story in the neighborhood was that he had been abandoned 3 times.
Serengeti is a Bengal, from my hairdresser.
Sheba is a Flame Point Siamese. She came from Petsmart.
Simon is an Orange Tabby, also from Petsmart.
Sarabi is a Grey Tabby, from Petsmart (stay away from Petsmart on weekends).
Sabrina and Satchmo are Abyssinians, mother and son. They're the old ones of this bunch, at 11 and 10 years old.

We think they're pretty special. :loveya:
