When You Were A Kid How Did You Say Spaghetti?
or how do your kids pronounce it?
or how have you heard it pronounced?

any other words that were mispronounced?

i've heard kids pronounce aluminum al-u-min-e-um

my daughter called spaghetti pagezzi
and she used to say girl with a british accent (maybe because she couldn't say it with a chicago accent?) it sounded adorable.

14. There actually two spellings.
Edited on Wed Apr-09-08 08:32 AM by PassingFair
British one has the extra "i".

Found this out after arguing with my English cousin
for an hour on the phone, we both grabbed dictionaries,
and found out we were both absolutely right.
(Just as we had each claimed...for being
an ocean apart, we have the same nasty
personality traits!)

On edit, here is some useless info on the difference...

2. Pasketti
I never had a problem with "aluminum," though, since my parents simply told me it was "tin."

7. I was one of those odd language savants that always said it correctly
btw, I guess it's very common to have difficulty with pronouncing r+l and r+d sounds like bird, word, girl, etc. Supposedly it's one of the more difficult sounds for kids to learn.

16. I said spaghetti
the way it should be said.

My mother would have knocked me across a room if I mispronounced a word. She didnt want anyone thinking she was raising stupid or illiterate children was her explanation.

And 'brefftuss' for breakfast.
And when she was 3, her first 'Happy Birthday' to me was 'Happy Day You!'.

Can't PM you yet.
When you can PM, send email?

I said "tentchapur" for the longest time and had a really hard time breaking that habit.
