Poll question: Favorite Charlton Heston film?
I once sat next to his wife, Lydia, at an outdoor graduation ceremony for one of their children at Pepperdine Malibu in 1984. I didn't know who she was until they introduced her and she waved to everyone. A very charming and gracious lady.

5. Actually, I don't think he was in "Spartacus"
I checked the cast list for "Spartacus" on imDb and his name isn't listed. But it's a good movie, I agree!

2. The 10 commandments
It was his "it's a wonderful life" moment - a movie that has lasted for years and still means something to so many.

Though I have yet to see Soylent Green and Omega Man, I've meant to buy them. Along with Westworld, if I recall the title correctly...

17. Will Penny
Probably his most nuanced role and performance. No larger than life heroics, just the simple courage of dealing with bad breaks.

28. Touch of Evil is so great
Heston is the cherry on top of Welles' over-the-top performance, Dietrich's cameo, Leighs' pointy-pointy bras...

I've never been a Heston fan, beyond the kitsch factor, but I can watch this movie over and over and over... and have, in fact. when my vhs collection is totally non-functional, I will be at such a loss.

21. Apes. Only Heston could unintentionally turn nuclear annihilation into a comedic moment.
RIP Taylor.

Then I found out how conservative he was and could never look at him the same way again.

27. I'm glad Touch of Evil is on your list. It was good more despite Heston than because of him, though.
He was probably even less convincing as a Mexican than Pamela Anderson would have been, but the movie was terrific anyway.

and hair that looked like it came from a tube of grease!

glad to see another fan of that film.
