KGO 810 AM is the radio station in San Francisco that is home to a fantastic liberal progressive named Ray Taliaferro, as well as John Rothmann and (formerly) Bernie Ward. It's just the best talk radio station in the country.
Every year at this time they do a 24 hour CURE-a-THON to solicit donations that go directly to research and helping people who have been diagnosed with blood cancers, specifically Leukemia, Lymphoma and Multiple Myeloma. It began Friday night at 7 PM and runs until 7 PM tonight (Saturday), although it usually runs a bit over.
If anyone might be interested in listening to, watching (on line) or donating to the cause of curing blood cancers, please check out www.kgoam810.com . This is the first year in 28 years that the event has been televised on-line, and I've been watching since 1 AM when Ray Taliaferro and John Rothmann went on the air. You Ray fans should know that he played the piano, and he is a superb musician as well as a great talk show host.
Ray Taliaferro always does the last three hours of the program, which are beginning now (4 PM Pacific time). (I'm watching as I type this).
The point is: If anyone here has been touched by a blood cancer, either directly or having a loved one diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or multiple myeloma, please consider checking this event out and maybe donating what you can.
Every hour there is usually a matching funds session, when anything you donate will be matched (doubled) by one of the sponsors. In other words, if you donate $50 during a "match", your $50 is automatically $100.
Every cent goes to research. Not one penny goes to overhead.
Thanks for considering this.
