Two more weeks. No more retail!
I promised my wife I'd stay at The Home Depot until my full-time employer really took off.

It's happened. So...I put in my two weeks notice at Home Depot. Yes, it felt really good to do that.

1. Congrats, but I'll miss the customer stories.
I think of you every time that I find myself in the Home Despot.

5. How about a dumbass associate story?
My wife is now a head cashier. On Monday I was talking to her at the store, and a customer came up screaming bloody murder...because she bought bright red paint to paint her walls, and it looks pink. She wanted us to give her $50 in cash, right now, for her trouble.

Turns out that the fucking idiot behind the paint desk told her that she had to use tinted primer under the red paint. PINK-tinted primer! (It's supposed to be gray.)

We didn't give her any cash, but we did give her a gallon of gray primer and a good roller cover.

3. What's even more of a fantastic feeling...
is seeing the results of my work.

And not just in my pay envelope, although that's substantial--never less than twice what I made at Home Depot, and usually more than that. But I actually get to invent things here--two of them are patent pending, and we've just started on a third.

We've got some really neat shit going on. Right now I can't really tell you about any of it, but in probably six months you'll start seeing it on the news, or it will be on PatentStorm. And then I'll tell you.
