I was a contributing editor for U.S. News and World Report today

I have a friend who's a copy editor there, and around noon she IM'd me, saying she was having problems with the caption supplied with the photo linked below because she couldn't verify the name given for the coach. I did a little digging and couldn't verify the name, either, but I did come up with enough info to fill out the caption.

It was fun. :)

I've been published hundreds of times, albeit on a rather small scale. The largest circulation of the newspapers I've worked for was about 36,000.

My last newspaper job was at the smallest daily in Kollyforniya — circulation about 4,500 when I was there, about 3,500 now.

Reminds me, though — last night at the Dodgers-Madres game in Beijing, they had the U.S. flag flying alongside the Chinese flag. I thought that was kinda strange, as it wasn't a U.N. deal or anything like that.

I dug up the phone number for Major League Baseball International in China, so she coulda checked with them, but it was like 1 a.m. there at the time. :crazy:
