For this sweet girl:



I just got back from spending an hour with her at the vet's before they closed. She doesn't look good. I've recently brought her through several rounds of chemo, and she did remarkably well. Just last week the vet said he thought she would make it another year at least. But suddenly over the course of the past few days her kidneys started deteriorating, and quickly. Now the vet says that if she doesn't turn it around in the next 12-16 hours, she probably isn't going to make it through the weekend. He is going in to check on her later tonight. They will re-test in the morning, and I will be there to see her again.

She is such a good girl, and only 11 years old. I'd really love to keep her around for awhile.

I'm not over my last dog's death nearly three years ago. I think of him often, and he still visits me in dreams.

He and Ginger used to chase each other like mad around the yard. I can still see them flying along the ground with those silly dog grins on their faces, their tails streaming out behind them and their big soft ears flapping in the breeze.
