Am I the only one with no cell-phone?
I like to do things the old-school way, if you want to reach me you have to wait until I am at home. You can spot me on the interstates, I will be the one driving with my head OUT of my ass and concentrating on the road.

2. I don't have one of those infernal things, either.
I have only a few moments of peace and quiet each day, and I'll be damned if I'll ruin them with a stupid phone.

3. I had one
when I was working. It was strictly for emergency use only since I was traveling 40 miles one way each way. Don't have one now and don't want one. I don't even have an answering machine for the home phone anymore.

4. I still don't have one either
I don't feel that long term contracts are consumer friendly. I also don't like the idea of being accessable 24/7.

18. Who says you have to be accessible 24/7 if you have a cell?
That's what the On/Off switch is for!

but I did buy one for my teenager. It is a great way to keep tabs on them. Now that she is older and in another state, her long distance is free.

9. Had one for emergencies. $30/30 minutes; expire 60 days if used or not.
I can still dial 911 on it as long as I keep it charged. I didn't know this at first. This way I am paying nothing and can use it for what I got it in the first place - emergencies.

20. My wife is like that :-)
Although there have been situations already where she was VERY grateful I insisted she took it along. Trust me, there will be that time for you as well. Turn it off if it annoys you but do bring it along.

I like having times and places in which I can't be reached.

Add on edit:

I've always believed if it's real important, they'll write me a letter.

19. I couldn´t live without a cellphone
I´m doing 2 jobs at the same time and I depend on being available or my customers will run. I even bought an extra one to be available in the USA... However, I do notice a tendency that at night I turn the thing off to be left alone. Being available 14 hours a day is enough, people who can´t accept that can e-mail me or go to Hell, hehehe.

21. Nope not now. I did in the past. Couldn't
find enough justification to have one. Used it very little. I have family who do not have land based lines and use their cell exclusively. It's either turned off, low battery, can't find it, etc. Last week I'm in a grocery store standing in front of the glass doors in the frozen section. A lady comes up and stands right next to me. She's asking questions like.."do you like these?" I'm answering all her questions and carrying on a conversation with her.
I look over at her, she looks at me and then I see the obvious. She's on her phone. Stupid me.
I like to see the "cell stroll". The pacing back and forth. What I don't like is the damn things going off with those silly rings in stores, restaurants, theaters and church.

24. Well, yes, I have one.
So does my husband. Thing is, when I retire and don't need a phone line for work, I'll probably have ONLY the cellphone. The main reason? They are cheaper, much cheaper, than land lines.

29. My cell phone saved three lives once.
I was driving out on the country and came upon a truck that had run off the road -- a one-vehicle accident. Called 911 then jumped out to try to help. They were dying. They'd been there for six or seven hours. They all made it though.

I have the cheapest plan I can get, because I'm broke, but I don't go anywhere in my car without one.

27. No cell but would like one
I'm not much of a chatterbox, but I would like a cell for emergencies. My car is 12 years old, so I wouldn't like to be stuck.

I think I'll get one of those pay as you go phones...like from Virgin. That way I can use the minutes whenever I like and not have a monthly bill.

Looking to get one with my next job.

32. I bought my first one less than a year ago after finally caving in
and I still hate the idea of having a leash on me.
BUT it has come in real handy, especially when I got a flat tire on I-40. I have friends all over the country and I like that I can call them for free after 9 and on weekends. When the Cubs were in the playoffs last fall, my cable went out, so I called my best friend in Chicago and she gave me play-by-play over the phone for over 3 hours! Now that's a true friend!
On the other hand, I see people acting like idiots with them. Aside from bad drivers, I actually saw someone bowling while talking on one a couple of months ago. He looked like an idiot.

33. I hate all phones
I'm required to carry a cellphone at work, but I don't use it for personal calls (they make us pay $.10/minute for personal calls anyway). I don't have a personal cellphone and find it highly unlikely that I ever would. I have severe phone phobia and can't talk on the phone anyway; why would I want to pay extra money to guarantee myself panic attacks?

:scared:

35. Nope.......don't have one here, either......Glad to know I'm not
strange. I think those folks who shout into them in stores and everyone sort of tries to go on past...are strange. Why do people feel that everyone around them wants to know whom they are talking to, or are totally entertained by their shouting conversations?

I know they are necessary sometimes....but I don't have one....husband does, though. I won't even use his. I make him answer the damned thing when it rings somewhere from under the couch or in the back seat of the car....Ugh... He does need it for travel....I'll give him that....

36. You are not alone.
I don't have one, don't want one, and never will have one. The towers that they use are messing with first responder's radios and migratory birds, and I think it's dumb to walk around stores with one plastered to your head. I think very few people who actually own them need them.

40. I was just fine before the advent of cell phones...
... and I'm just fine now. No leash for me. And I certainly don't want folk calling me while I'm on my bike (though I spend a lot of time pedalling). About five years ago, when I moved to another city, I caved in and bought an answering machine for the job hunt.
