Mr. Chimpymustgo wants a pedestal sink for the powder room.

I want a vanity cabinet - very furniture-like. It would also store come cleaning products, etc.

What's a mother to do?

1. I love my pedestal sink..
It's great!! and we got it cheap too.. only $60.00 at home base.. It's big and has a built in ledge so stuff doesn't not fall off :)

3. Ahhh, SoCalDem, those are great looking pictures.
I love the look. But I have to be practical. We live in an old house, and need all the storage space we can get.

4. not a pedestal but...
Here's my sink:

To go with this option, I had to put my bathroom storage under the bed, restricting storage to three cabinets in the bath. One is behind the door, so you don't see it at all.

I bought those low, under-the-bed plastic storage containers for things we don't use very often. Since this is a master bath, it works out well. I like the clean lines and spaciousness of this design.

8. That is darling!
...and what a sweet cat, too! She fits right in with the black-&-white color scheme!

6. Get an attractive over-the-toilet unit for storage
And stay away from vanities. I've found that they're more trouble than they're worth. Because of the pipes, there isn't much space in them. You sometimes get drips or condensation. (I've lost more rolls of toilet paper that way.) And they're awkward to clean.

Far better to use your sink for pretty and find storage space elsewhere. Here's one online catalog that specializes in space-savers: http://www.shopgetorganized.com/ Or if you've got do-it-yourself skills, the average bathroom has a lot of nooks and corners where you can put up shelves.

9. Yep. we took out the vanity cabinet
a total waste of space.. Our bathroom is small, and with a small wicker dresser from Pier 1 we have storage and a glass topped surface for all the stuff you accumulate in there.. and a spiffy place to stash it every so ofetn..:)
