Audio Al had to wipe a tear from his eye.

It was a romantic drama, all right.

Not just a chick flick.

Your opinion if you've seen it...

2. We just held hands during the sexy parts.

Regal Bridgeport Cinema in Oregon doesn't have a loge. Just a raked auditorium.

Frankly, I wanted to make out with the male lead. His eyes were bluer than blue.

There were many women in the theater. My husband could have had his pick. It just wasn't the time or place.

The only place to make out is on the handicapped double chairs, but that might take something away from the disabled.

Thanks for your comments.

7. Agree with you about Daniel Day-Lewis. But IMHO neither western film is the best of 2007.
I know I will be disappointed if either "No Country for Old Men" or "There Will Be Blood" wins the highest award. I guess I feel that way about violent films in general. I hated "The Unforgiven" and still dislike it to this day.

10. Keira Knightley is such a beautiful woman, and Vanessa Redgrave is still one of my favorite...
actresses.

She is at an age when most women would be retired.

Date of Birth
30 January 1937, London, England, UK

Height
5' 11" (1.80 m)

Mini Biography
Born into a distinguished acting family, Vanessa Redgrave knew a lot about acting technique when she started making films in the 1960s. Three decades later she has shown that an actress can improve with age. In his review of A Month by the Lake (1995), Roger Ebert sees Redgrave "at the absolute peak of physical and mental perfection". No one had any idea of what kind of a woman was in the photographs in the park in Blowup (1966). Her rich auburn hair was long, her physique lean, her countenance inscrutable. Three decades later a Redgrave who takes the pictures has hair that is short, the auburn shade muted. The physique is still lean and it is strong from the work it has taken to keep it that way. And the countenance is a lot easier to read. Add expertise with body language and a superb sense of timing and here is a comedienne who should still be carrying films when she is in her 90s.

14. I saw it for the second time too. Though I didn't cry I enjoyed it just as
much. It is just one of those movies that stay with you.

17. Thanks for adding to the discussion, Applegrove.
Perhaps it will win some of the Oscars on Sunday night.

"Atonement" has seven nominations.

I didn't care for "The English Patient" (1996) but I saw it at a difficult time in my personal life.

Perhaps I should see it again.

12. Questions:
Is it more emotional than "English Patient," which I loved.

Is it really better than "There Will Be Blood" or "No Country for Old Men."

Would you say it would be okay for an eleven year old girl to see the film? Is it the kind of film that would educate or be good for her to see?

16. I think it is much better than either of the two western movies you mention.
Edited on Sat Feb-23-08 07:20 PM by Radio_Lady
I don't know how to judge the emotional value of a film! My husband was actually wiping his eyes at the end; I felt a little bit choked up when Briony reveals her written secrets.

I simply cannot remember much about "The English Patient" which I saw during 1997. I remember I didn't care for it. I was not reviewing movies at that time, so I'll take a pass on it. The time frame and the British accents may be similar, I don't know.

"Atonement" is rated "R" and is not appropriate for an eleven-year-old girl, IMHO.

Perhaps you might receive some guidance from this:

MPAA: Rated R for disturbing war images, language and some sexuality.
