Honky Tonk Women The Rolling Stones
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYeHVe6faYE

I met a gin soaked, bar-room queen in memphis,
She tried to take me upstairs for a ride.
She had to heave me right across her shoulder
cause I just cant seem to drink you off my mind.

Its the honky tonk women
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues.

I laid a divorcee in new york city,
I had to put up some kind of a fight.
The lady then she covered me with roses,
She blew my load and then she blew my mind.

Its the honky tonk women
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues.

(yeah!) its the honky tonk women.
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues.

(yeah!) its the honky tonk women.
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues

1. Best Rock'nRoll Band Evah!
I saw them in concert at the LA Forum that year- 1969.

It was the "breakfast show"- they came on at 5 AM after
BB King and the Ike and Tina Turner Revue.

It was one of the best concerts I've been too.

Thanks, Swede, for the trip down memory lane.

;-)

2. Great tune!
Great gritty guitar work on it too. From Keith Richards, I presume.

6. It IS 'nose', Westegg

I know my boomer age hearing is going to hell
( too many high decibel concerts in the good 'ole days
and the ravages of the "Golden Years" )

but I heard 'nose', too!

http://www.lyrics007.com/The%20Rolling%20Stones%20Lyrics/HONKY%20TONK%20WOMAN%20Lyrics.html

and

http://www.keno.org/stones_lyrics/honky_tonk_woman.htm

several more lyric sites confirm- it was 'nose'.

The Stones were playing it safe with this one.

:-)

Lordy a golden age of rock and roll. Whatever happened to those guys? Jeez they must be in their 60's by now.

5. and a great cowbell opener! Can't beat that cowbell.

Charlie Watts. Unusual for the Stones, who almost always opened with crunchy chords from Keith before the rest joined in.

One of the Stones best recordings.

I saw them in '79 on their Some Girls tour. Front row balcony in a smallish opera house = $10 a ticket.
