I learned something funny about my house today

or more accurately, about somebody who lived here.

I bought it 10 years ago from a young guy. I knew he hadn't lived here long.

I was talking to my next door neighbor today, and he told me about the woman who owned it before him. Her name was Mabel, and my neighbor thought she'd lived here since it was built in the 30s.

She was old when THEY moved in 25 years ago.

Anyway, he told me that Mabel used to get naked, lock herself in the bathroom, then call the fire department to come save her. Evidently she liked firemen.

had a couple phones way back then -- always with cords -- and I never knew anyone with one in the bathroom.

4. This would've been in the early 90s.

Plenty of people had cordless phones, or at least very long cables on phones.

There's a phone jack about 5 feet away from the bathroom door.
