"Philosophy Now" containing a repro of my painting of Nietzsche
The comp copies of the issue of Philosophy Now containing my old watercolor painting of Nietzsche arrived from London yesterday.

They did a nice job of reproducing the colors in their slick rag, and they misspelled my first name (or did my parents misspell my first name?), so it's a bit of a kick to hold the magazine and see in its pages what I see on a wall at my home nearly every day.

The article, by Eric Wills, a philosophy prof and writer from Somerset England, is about what you would expect, given its coupling of Nietzsche with Scorsese's The Departed, and if you like that kind of thing (and I think I used to) it's not a bad read at all.

It's all available on Philosophy Now's website, if you're a paying subscriber (and I know you are). And it'll be in faculty mailboxes and on racks at Powell's and elsewhere in a week or three, so start saving up your $7.49 now.

Some small repros:

To make the day even better, today dipsetmuthafucka posted his dance to "Mystery" by the Wipers.

Scorsese and Nietzsche (Gesundheit!) What is next? Ed Wood and Heidegger? Tarantino and Wittgenstein?

And why did they misspell your first name? Do you think what I think that the monads got them and struck them with irreducible simplicity? Of course, I envy Eric Wills. That is what all Philosophers once wanted to do, but then, most ended up in IT or banking. No joke. Oh, and some became comedians.

Well, congrats! Looks very good!

8. You amaze me.
That is a terrific portrait of him.

"The logical picture of the facts is the thought. The thought is the significant proposition. Fucking-A right, it worked. That's what I'm saying. Knucklehead walks into a bank with a telephone! Not a pistol, not a shotgun, but a fucking phone. Cleans the place out, doesn't even lift a fucking finger."

Man, we're on to something here.
