2. Nope.
Her life does not seem very stable right now.
Shitty divorce. Shitty husband. Losing house.
Living in shitty Bangor.

I hope she finds some untapped inner source of strength, finds she doesn't need these assholes and moves the hell out of there, onto better things.

5. She is in Bangor????
WTF..that's depressing in itself. We are heading up to our house in Harpswell in 2 weeks. I was gonna pm her and asked if she wanted to go to lunch or something. I feel bad for her...been in an abusive relationship myself many moons ago....God, I can remember feeling so overwhelmed and "alone". I'm in Jersey right now...lots of snow up by you?

6. Some.
It keeps melting and snowing again.

She'd probably love the DU company. We Mainers never seem to have any meetups.

9. Maybe this summer we could have a meetup
There's no place more beautiful than Maine in summer on the coast. God, I miss working in Portland.

10. It would be nice to have one.
I'm curious to actually meet some of the other Mainers.

Yes, who wouldn't miss Portland? It's one of the greatest cities in the world!

11. Hi Neighbor!
I worked in Bath fro a dentist right before heading down to Jersey. We are only here to sock some money away. So far so good. I love Maine but ya just can't make any money there. Can't wait to come "home."

13. Hi!
We moved here from NY three years ago. It was too expensive there and we have three young boys that we didn't want to raise in Dutchess County school system. We love it here, but I can see what you are saying about the money. We are struggling to make ends meet. I am trying to get certified as a teacher still (certified in NY in Special Ed) and my husband works as an Ed Tech III with kids who have Emotional and Mental Disabilities plus various second jobs. He wants to go back to school when our twins start Kindergarten and I can work full time again. Our oldest is in Kindergarten now.

All of the snow had melted, but then yesterday it started again and has been going off and on since. I like the snow, but I think I've had enough this year! We are on our 4th cord of wood, hopefully our last. Cabin fever is setting in (or really has set in at this point!) and I can't wait for spring at this point! These boys are driving me crazy

15. Twins????
Now I tip my hat to ya! holy moly.
Good for you both moving from NY. I left Jersey in 98 and moved to Maine and met a "Maine boy", got married in 2001, bought our house in Harpswell in 2002. We came down to Jersey when my daughter got married and my mom passed away shortly after that.
Then we both got jobs and we're making double what we would up there. So we are going to stick it our for a while to put away as much as we can. However, we can't wait to come "home."

16. Yep they are a handful.
We miss NY. We left all of our family and my husband is a climber so he misses New Paltz. We really do love it up here though. The culture and the people are amazing. We still have so much to see and do. The twins were only 6 months old when we made the move up.

She was calm but just a little confused.

8. That whole thread was so sad
:-( Just makes me feel so bad for crim son.

I hope she really gets out of that situation...being alone is much happier than being with someone who hurts you. I'm glad she at least has DU.

18. I find it impossible
Personally, I've been known to posse up when female friends were being abused. Wouldn't hesitate at all to do so again.
