The Parade for the Giants.
I have a sort of funny story to tell. :P

This morning I took my brand new power wheelchair that all of you wonderful DUers contributed to, and I attempted to take mass transit to work for the first time.

I couldn't figure out why tens of thousands of people were crowded into the Staten Island ferry terminal waiting for a boat to Manhattan. I got to work just AFTER rush hour.

But there they were, mostly wearing Giants crap and often yelling and cheering. My first thought was "The game was several days ago. Get over it already."

I'm not a football fan. I didn't really know the stuporbowl was happening until I saw people post about it here. I didn't pay any attention to the fact that the Giants won. And I definitely didn't realize that meant that they would get a parade up Broadway. But the chaos in the ferry terminal clued me in.
:dunce:

I had to inch my way through the crowd to get off the boat because they were surging forward and almost climbing over my chair to get ahead of me. I had to inch my way towards the Subway station because the crowds anyplace near lower broadway were Insane!

It took me an hour to get to the subway, and then another hour to get to work. And that is how I discovered that when a NY team wins the superbowl there's a parade along my commute. :P
