Peruvian surfing cat is making waves

Peruvian surfing cat is making waves
By Tom Chivers 01/02/2008

Sporting animals are nothing new - horseracing, polo and other equestrian classics notwithstanding, recent years have seen YouTube's famous skateboarding dog and a sports-mad pigeon trying a little too hard to get involved in baseball.

A surfing cat, however, is something different.

Domingo Pianezzi, of Lima, Peru, believes that his small cat Nicolasa enjoys catching tubes almost as much as catching mice. This unexpected feline pastime was apparently discovered when Domingo took Nicolasa to Lima's San Bartolo beach and the young moggy leapt on board.

1. Hang twenty, kitty
You dig your claws in to the board, not the surfer!

2. That first picture does not make it look voluntary!
And for all we know, the claw marks may be hidden under Sr. Pianezzi's long sleeves.

4. Have you seen the look of people on rollercoasters?
If you took their picture, you'd think they were scared and the whole thng was not voluntary.
If the cat really did not want to get on the surfboard, there is no way you could make her do it, at least not without losing half your blood.

3. That is AWESOME!!!
One of my cats loves water... I wonder if he would love surfing? If this cat doesn't dig it, the dude should DEFINATELY get a Turkish Van - they love water and swimming!

Also, they are BIG cats, so he could really hang twenty!

6. That kitty is looking shit-scared!
Pity they don't have animal welfare rights protection in that country.
