These are special women with whom I had a special friendship: I could call or visit often and talk about a variety of things, but never pursued an intimate relationship. I suppose that's why I still think of these women in the fondest terms. And I took out each of these four women exactly one time. But I always felt I could pick up the phone or stop by their house any time to chat or visit. No pretense, no "sexual tension," no mind-games, no expectations other than good conversation, kind words, and an occasional funny story. I suppose as I grow older (I turned 55 last Wednesday), I see that there is some wisdom to be gleaned from age—even for me. I understand now that the few moments I've spent with these friends are special and to be cherished. Forget the sex--(well, not entirely, but just not with these friends)-—it's a woman's touch, her eyes and voice that beget the fondest memories.
Here's to Cindy (we went to a concert), Robbie (went out for pizza), Mary (went to a dance), and Nancy (went to a movie)! :toast: You taught me something that took me 30 years to realize. I only wish I'd learned sooner...
When I get home from work tonight, I'm having a scotch for my four special friends.
