SF Obama event rumor! (Grateful Dead content!)
The big rumor going around right now is that the What's left of the Grateful Dead will be playing at an Obama event on Monday. Phil, Bobby, Mickey and others.

Cannot confirm this, but it is a rumor on a lot of site, ones that are usually pretty reliable.

1. Whoa, keep us posted, Bennyboy!
I'm down in Scotts Valley and yesterday I called the San Jose Obama hdqtrs to ask if there were any upcoming scheduled appearances of Obama in the next week. The guy didn't know, but said things are very fluid right now, so we'll see...

I'm an Edwards supporter, still grieving his announcement yesterday, so I'm undecided who to vote for on Tuesday.

Hillary is speaking in San Jose on Friday night at the convention center. Maybe I'll go, it depends.

I'd LOVE to hear Obama, though, since he's supposed to be so charismatic and such a great orator.

:hi: Hope you're feeling better today.

Obama and the Grateful Dead

Some will snide this announcement. But look for an official statement tomrorrow.

Fired Up!

* Deadicated Marxist's diary :: ::

That's right. Barack Obama is going to hold a huge rally in San Francisco with the surving members of the Grateful Dead (sans Billy Kreutzmann). It's a get out the vote rally, and it's set to occur Monday night. The tickets will sell-out immediately for sure.

Obama has already played with Macy Gray and Wilco. Now the Grateful Dead. He certainly does have the rock and roll business on his side. Does that mean he's hip?

This is a rather small diary, but I'm so happy to see the candidate I'm supporting doing a gig with the band I loved so much over the years, I can't help it.

Ready To Go!

Jackie Greene Enlists Phil Lesh and Larry Campbell For New Studio Effort

Jackie Greene's latest studio album, Giving Up The Ghost is now set for an April 1 release on 429 Records. Los Lobos' Steve Berlin, who produced Greene's prior disc, American Myth, once again is on board for this effort. Greene will be joined by two of his latest collaborators, as Phil Lesh and Larry Campbell also appear on the recording. Other guests include Dave Hidalgo (Los Lobos), Mic Gillette (Tower of Power) and Elvis Costello's longtime drummer Pete Thomas, another American Myth alum.

Next up for Greene is a series of California shows next week with Tim Bluhm as the Skinny Singers (although stay tuned for news of a rumored performance with Lesh, Bob Weir and Mickey Hart on Monday night in support of Barak Obama).

15. OK, where's Warren Haynes at right now...
...because the "others" part is what I'm interested in. Hornsby too, bring him along.

Kreutzmann ought to come out of his self-imposed retirement for this one, too...
