Ever tried to make a late night drunken reconnection with you past?
You know the kind where you're stewed to to the gills, it's just you the telephone and a bottle of whatever at two in the morning. For some reason you've just got to talk to old what's his fuck, because he is your best buddy in the whole wide world, there's nobody who understands like him or her.

I've played this game, I don't remember ever reconnecting with anyone just annoying the hell out of operators late at night. It was probably just as well that I never connected who wants to talk to a drunk at two in the morning?

1. That's never a good idea IMHO.
I've been on the other end of such calls and it's always somewhere between mildly annoying and scary to listen to a good soul in a state of deep inebriation. Sometimes I think that phones should have breathalyser options. ;)

2. This was before caller id
If i got a call late at night from someone now and caller id told me it was someone I hadn't seen forever I'd probably just turn the phone off.

3. Yeah, but that first time the phone rings I'd wonder if it was an emergency.
Shutting it off works for habitual callers though.

4. I think I've done this a couple of times.
Something big in your life is annoying and depressing the hell out of you. You have a few, get all misty-eyed and nostalgic, then call that "special someone" (with me, it was usually a woman--I like their voices) to wax philosophical about life and death.

I usually wasn't so shit-faced that I didn't make sense, but I usually thought :wtf: the next morning.

Does that sound about right?

7. Good God, no. There's pretty much NOTHING you can do that will make you feel more
like a flaming idiot the next day.
