You can't even have a discussion in GD anymore...
Christ almighty, you try to discuss something entirely unrelated to the primaries, and invariably, some douchebag jumps in with candidate smears.

"Hubble Telescope Upgrade to Bring New View of Universe"

"Yeah! Now Hillary will be able to see where Bill's cock is!"

"Dude - Obama will cut NASA spending to spend the money on crack!"

sigh

1. So much is being ignored or dismissed.
Non-Soap Opera stories sink like a stone, while 20+ threads go on and on about trivial drool.

If you don't like the current bicker match, wait a couple of hours and it will be something new, yet just as inane.

Here's to getting a Nominee, so everyone can STFU.

17. You wish.
It'll get even worse after the convention. You heard it here first - at least a month's worth of flamer conspiracy threads about how the nominee stole votes, made a pact with the devil or, more likely, Bush. Yada, yada. And after the election, second verse, merely louder. Finally, if the Dem POTUS doesn't turn everything around in six months - whoa mama. :nuke:

18. Yep
and lots of threads about how we chose the worst nominee, how we're bound to lose, and if we win, what fucking difference will it make?

20. Let's not forget
the why campaign? The elections will be canceled!

"What is Cheney planning for Nov. 1st?"

"So I guess we're invading Iran in late October"

etc. etc. etc.

2. it's all getting pretty bad over there. the gdp hate is flowing over
I am trying purposefully not to argue with any of my friends from the Lounge over in the other forums, even if I do not agree with your politics or your choice.

3. I am watching a thread in GDP that is as bad as it gets
I feel dirty actually (and yeah, I know it can and will get worse, but for now, I feel nauseous for the first time on DU)

4. GD or GDP?
I've noticed that GD has been a lot slower since candidate threads were all moved to GDP

5. GD
that's my complaint.

leave the candidate wars in GD-P: that's what it's for.

But GD should be free of it.

7. I mentioned that pending phenomena in Skinner's thread
about moving the primary stuff.

People will FIND a way to make it bleed through to GD, regardless of the topic.

Some people are just determined to ruin the site.

Any discussion becomes a competition.

22. A competition is quite literally what it is
It boils down to "I know more than you."

GD should take a cue from Teh Longue, where it's merely "My opinion on music is more valid than yours."

:D

But, don't let it get to you. Old timers like you and me just have to ride it out.

13. Apparently it's HRC's fault that golf is an elitist sport.
But Obama started it by campaigning for Tiger Woods' vote. At least they spelled "elitist" correctly.

15. No, I just made that up. But it wouldn't surprise me.
It did turn self-righteous pretty quickly, but that's to be expected.

Maybe you could run over there and turn it all political-like.

24. The four year olds aren't limiting themselves to GD-P
They are by nature wanting to be the center of attention, so of course they are overflowing into GD. Seriously, they act EXACTLY like whiny spoiled children
