3. I presume a GTA is:
Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA): A graduate student who acts as instructor for an undergraduate course in his or her field, in return for some form of financial aid from the university.

I may be wrong, but it looks like a classroom setting.

9. That photo is an embarassment.
Those of us who put extensive time, effort, and creativity into cheating our way through school are frankly embarrassed at the lack of skill demonstrated by these students. Have they no pride in their profession? Honestly, kids today.

There's hardly any point in cheating if it's easy.

13. I think I went to school with some of them.
In high school several people failed an English assignment for a class I was in because they watched one of the film versions of Lord of the Flies instead of reading the book. One person even wrote in his paper about the use of glow sticks in the book.

One of my professors in college told us about a friend of hers that failed 23 students for buying the same exact paper online and turning it an for the same assignment. To make matters worse she said it wasn't even a good paper.

14. When I was a UTA, two students turned in exactly the same paper.
The class was a large lecture with several smaller discussion sections. This one paper would be graded by UTAs and one GTA. These two women were in different discussion sections and thought they'd be graded by different TAs. But we didn't divide the papers up that way. We just divvied up an equal number between us, and I got the two identical ones. When I asked them about it, they were honest about why they thought it would work. "We didn't think the same TA would read 'em." So, they weren't totally dishonest.

16. My junior year of college
I had to do a research project for a course I was in. I was going to do it alone but somebody asked if she could work with me because she said she liked my idea. I had taken a few other courses with her and she seemed friendly and smart so I agreed to it. One day while working on it she said she was having trouble researching a couple of issues and when I told her about some info I cam across that would be helpful she asked to borrow the computer disk I had it on. Foolishly I agreed. I also had on that disk a paper that had been due a week earlier but unbeknown to me she had talked the professor into giving her a two week extension. A few days later I get an angry call from our professor threatening to have me kicked out of school for helping her cheat. There were only about 20 people in the class and she had copied damn near every word of my ten page paper. It would've been blatantly obvious to anybody that knew us it was written by me and parts of it were about me. I let her know that if she didn't call him that night and tell him the truth that I'd call a few people including her coach (she was in school on a sports scholarship) because if I was going down I'd be sure to take her with me. She admitted what she did to him and I ended up doing well in the course. The same professor that had threatened me ended up just giving her another extension :eyes:.

17. The two I wrote about were called before
the Student Code Enforcement Review Board (SCERB--the word alone struck terror into mild-mannered undergrads like myself). They both failed the course, and were put on academic probation. I don't know what happened to them after that. According to the student handbook, they should have been expelled. It made it sound like you'd get the death penalty for plagiarism. I guess not.

Some people really have brass ones, don't they?
