Doctor Demento fans...what's your favorite demented song?

One of my favorites is "Legend of the USS Titanic," by Jaime Brockett

"Sinister Lunchmeat" is another favorite.

I wish I could provide links for the uninitiated, but alas, no youtube or any other ones, to my knowledge.

4. I used to have the 45 of that, by Napoleon XIV. The flip side of that
record is the same song played backwards.

8. I had acquired a hand-me-down LP from my sisters called "Dr. Demento's Delights"
It had "Eleanor Rigby," "Friendly Neighborhood NARCO Agent" and several others.

Fun stuff.

I listened to him when he started in '71 on KPPC I think. Haven't heard him in years since he lost his syndication in LA. Originally his programs were pop-musicology, not so much comedy, but educational.

Too much of the same thing, I heard. But that one song will go down in history.

5. Pico is another one of my favorites. Really, there are too many to list.

I used to never miss the Dr. Demento show, and had many shows recorded on cassette. Those cassettes, along with a lot of other things sadly got burned up in a house fire years ago.

It will take more than a mind-meld with you to frighten me, Bunny. Now if I ever post that I just came from the piercing parlor, THAT would be a reason to be scared :scared:

Anyway, since we saw the street names mentioned in the song every day, it was a source of high amusement. But the best part was '...where nobody's dreams come true.'

11. I still have my vinyl copy of that Jaime Brockett album--
other nominees: Mechanical Man by Ben Bolt and the Nuts, Onions by Linda Laurie, and The Eggplant That Ate Chicago by Dr West's Medicine Show ( which if my THC addled memory serves me right, was actually Norman Greenbaum , who did Spirit in the Sky). Also , the Crusher; having a senior moment trying to remember who did it originally, but I have a great cover of it by The Cramps.

50. Of all the things I mentally KICK MYSELF IN THE ARSE for not buying...
About 4 years ago, I came across a "special edition" of "Fish Heads"
in the dusty record bin of an antique store- the actual record itself
was a fish shaped picture disk, and the cover was in great condition...
they were asking seven bucks for it, and I passed it by; went
back a week later to buy it and it was gone.

Here's a "vintage vinyl dealer" with a copy for sale, and
he sure ain't selling it for seven bucks:

No wonder I couldn't find it--I kept looking for "I Want to Kiss Her", not "I Wanna Kiss Her."

Once again mcscajun uses her powers for awesome! Thanks!

Edit to add the full lyrics:

I was ridin' on a train to Austin, Texas
when a very lovely lady sat next to me
When she got up to eat
she asked if I would hold her seat.
I was more than happy to,
And now there's more I'd like to do.

I wanna kiss her but
she won't let me
I wanna whisper sweet nothin's in her (r)ear
I wanna hold her behind...closed doors and more
I wanna kiss her but
she won't let me

When she returned, she said she was an actress
She showed me an album of pictures of her opening
which she'd been sittin' on
She seemed as sweet as she could be
But I could clearly see
She was the kinda girl who stole men's hearts
Then wrecked 'em (rectum)

I wanna kiss her but
she won't let me
I wanna whisper sweet nothin's in her (r)ear
I wanna hold her behind...closed doors and more
I wanna kiss her but
she won't let me

Well, I'll never forget that train ride down to Austin.
We shared a seat, and we shared our tales (tails)
But as my heart tries to leave her behind
Regrets are all I find
'Cause I'd hoped I'd get that girl
In the end.

I wanna kiss her but
she won't let me
I wanna whisper sweet nothin's in her (r)ear
I wanna hold her behind...closed doors and more
I wanna kiss her but
I wanna kiss her but
I wanna kiss her but
She won't let me

70. "You Always Hurt the One You Love"
The breaking-glass sound effect always cracks me up.

Also used in "Laura" ('Footsteps...that you hear down the hall.' *gallop* *gallop* *breaking glass*)

71. My Name is Larry
by Wild Man Fischer. (It's the musical version of Ed Wood's moive-making talent.)

http://www.themadmusicarchive.com/samples/w/i/Wild_Man_Fischer_-_My_Name_is_Larry.mp3

Here are the "lyrics:"
My name is Larry
My name is Larry
I have a mother,
Her name is Mother.
Hi Mother, Hi, I love you Mother.
I'll always love you, Mother.

My name is Larry
My name is Larry
I have a sister
Her name is Joyce

My name is Larry
I have a grandfather
His name is Grandpa
Hi, Grandpa
Remember Grandpa, when I used to go over to the house and you wouldn't
let me go into the um, into the um, kitchen with the rest of the family.
Remember that, Grandpa?

Grandpa: Oh yes, Larry, you were a nice boy
and stay away from us.
When we want you to come over, I'll get a hold of your mother
and I'll call her up and you can come over, OK.

My name is Larry
My name is Larry
I have an uncle
His name is Bob
Hi, Bob, Bob
I like you a Bob
You're an artist and I like you a lot

Uncle Bob: Larry, I like you a lot too, you're a nice boy.

My name is Larry
My name is Larry
I have an auntie
Her name is Becky
Hi, Auntie Becky

Auntie Becky: Hi Larry, ha

My name is Larry
My name is Larry
I have an auntie
Her name is Auntie Estelle
Hi, Auntie Estelle, Hi

My name is Larry
My name is Larry
I have a brother,
His name is David
Hi David, David
You know I talked about you on my album on the
Wild Man Fischer story and could you say a few words.

David: I'm a Certified Public Accountant
And my brother Larry is the worst singer, one of the worst singers there ever was. And I can not see how in the world, with knowing him anything is possible, knowing him, 'cause I used to hear him sing all day long.

My name is Larry
My name is Larry
I have a cousin
His name is Harvey
Hi, Harvey

My name is Larry
My name is Larry
My name is Larry
My name is Larry
My name is Larry
My name is Larry
