OMG - Googlemaps are da bomb! I just discovered something quite by accident
did you know that if you stick your mouse inside the map and hold the left mouse button down, you can actually drag the map around?

:wow:

I will comment later. My daughter has the stomach flu so I am posting from the laptop while I cuddle with her.

9. Oh you think that's cool? Try "street view"
it's an actual street level view of the address, but it only works in select cities and on certain streets. Still, it's pretty cool!

11. My dear originalpckelly!
I have done that!

It works in my town, Manhattan Beach!

It's weird travelling down streets that I see on a regular basis!

I wish it worked everywhere...

:D

12. I too wished it worked everywhere!
But it does give a very strange feel, it's like walking with bubble glasses on.

3. Oh hell ya, I loves me my Google maps
It's like flying, only without the risk and nausea.

I travel all over the world in my googlemaps, zooming in here and there, zoooooooooooom!

Love it! :D

5. I love the satellite photos myself - and the ones on maps.live.com
This site may be from Microsoft, and work in IE but not Firefox on my computer, but I love the "birds-eye" views (close-up aerial photos).

http://maps.live.com

I've been using it while house-hunting. Discovered some creepy things in the back of one property that way - stopped me from buying the house!

No privacy for any of us anymore that's for sure. I need to ask my sister who's parked in her driveway 'cause I don't recognize the car!

14. ROFL! It's got places in my area that haven't existed for years
and it even demoted one of 'em.

It was called Sergeant, but on the Microsoft map it's "Corporal."

8. Umm... yes?
I thought everybody knew that. I've gotten so used to that feature that I get annoyed when I find map programs that don't let you do that. :P

10. Here's a very useful tip I use quite often:
http://lifehacker.com/software/google-maps/drag-and-drop-to-tweak-your-driving-route-273251.php

Don't like the driving route Google Maps doled out to you? Now you can change the driving directions by grabbing the blue route line and dragging it to create a new destination point, which will in turn create a new route.

As you drag your new destination point, the route changes on the fly to give you an idea of how your new point will change your route. It's always been a little annoying—especially when you want to send a map to another person—when you know the default directions don't highlight the best route, so this excellent and easy-to-use feature will certainly come in useful. To undo your changes, just right-click the new destination point and select "Remove this destination."

16. On the other hand, if you hear three knocks...
that means the girl downstairs wants you.

Twice on the pipe, well, not so much.
