A Blast From The Past --- A DU TALE, AS TOLD THROUGH EMOTICONS!!!
This is originally from 2003, I was looking for it in the archives, finally found it, but all the emoticons were deleted because they came from outside DU. I've reposted it using only DU emoticons. - MR

----

One day an enterprising young liberal, :patriot: dismayed at the results of the 2000 election, decided to start a website.

He put a lot of hard work into designing his website, at times not everything worked out right. :freak: But eventually he worked some of the bugs out, installed a message board and pretty soon, people from all walks of life were showing up. :dunce: :smoke:  :+

All the new posters and visitors just loved the site :bounce: and before too long the site became very crowded :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: and was even invaded by a bunch of evil-intentioned posters :spank: who just loved to start flame wars and mess up all the love and comrodery that had built up here.:evilgrin::evilgrin:

So, seeing that his site was becoming infested, the young liberal decided to purge his board of the evil posters. :hurts: and warn all others to keep on their best behavior OR ELSE! :nuke::nuke::nuke::nuke:

Eventually the site stuck around long enough that it reached the off-year 2002 elections. This was not the best of times for the young liberal's message board. His board became filled with hate-filled angst  and overdramatic no-it-alls  who sought to ruin the family atmosphere of the board.

After some trying times, normalcy returned to the message board. And an upgrade was even done to make the young liberal's site bigger and even better! :7:7:7:7:7:7:7

But it wasn't too long before dissention broke out in the ranks. }(}( Fights began erupting over the pettiest of details, usually involving candidates. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

At one point, the maddness even seeped into the comical "Lounge" forum, where over-sexed members began posting their inner-most thoughts and desires :loveya: in a vain attempt to get some :9.

These threads started out innocently enough, but soon became too much for the Lounge to bear, as long waits insued to find threads of a bit more sophistication. :daily:

In the end though, order was restored to the young liberal's website. And people came from miles around to praise him :toast: :applause: :woohoo:

And they lived happily, if not somewhat disfunctionally, ever after,.

All except Magic Rat, who kept getting smacked for repeatedly posting inane and useless topics. :hide:
