Trek fans, which series had the better computer models/special effects?

If you ask me, the Voyager f/x shots have more shadow detail and look less obviously 2D -- the Borg ships in season 7 almost passed as model shots... if those could be done in 2002, how come (IMHO) the remastered TOS shots look distinctively WORSE; less detail and therefore more cartoony?

Back to the poll question; to you, which series had the better visual effects? (My vote obviously goes to Voyager but is not reflected here.)

1. I'll give you my thoughts.

When a film maker uses extensive CGI he/she has the option to sort of "stylize" the films reality (some extreme examples are sin city, star wars prequels, the Matrix, 300 etc...). So even though modern CGI techniques and power can now render close to photo realistic images it's not always a directors intent to do so. JMO.
