If you have a clogged toilet and you plunge it several times and it
gets better but you know it is not entirely unclogged can you just keep plunging it and it will eventually unclog, (hopefully) or do you absolutely have to get a snake.
This whole business makes me gag. It's not my toilet either it is my house-mate's toilet but I own the house so I have to fix it. Well I don't HAVE to fix it but I don't want it not fixed.
If it was a buttload of toilet paper just let it soak a while. Flush it once so water is above clog. That is if there is not already water above the clog. The water will weaken paper and poop.
or some other kind of disinfectant for plunging the plunger into after you get done clearing the toilet.
The plunger can harbor...well...let's just say bacteria...and it'll get really smelly. I've got one of those plastic accordian-looking plungers. Works really well, but needs sloshing in bleach/water after using, especially with all the folds.
that the solution. Its like a small snake with a built in handle. I will swear by them, did property maintenance and when the plunger was not enough, get the auger. They are about $10. at any hardware store. Small inexpensive and will always move the clog past the U in the line.
11. A packet of yeast is supposed to help - munches on the poop and breaks it up overnight.
Usually though with effective plunging involving good suction, along with pulling as well as pushing will do the trick. You need a good plunger that has nice supple rubber - if it is stiff it will not work as well.
