Not that I'm not sad that Heath Ledger died, but this better not mean that Batman won't be released.

1. I think you mean not that I'm NOT sad.
You're too nice to mean what you said in the title of your thread.

2. They'll just get Ed Wood's dentist to fill in the remaining scenes.
Luckily, all that make-up makes it easier.

4. I am pretty sure
the film is in the can, so it shouldn't be a problem.

6. They've finished filming,
but there are always the occasional reshoots and redubs. The reshoots can usually be pulled off with a stunt double... but the redubs? I only got a sample of his Joker voice from the trailer, but I got chills down my spine. I don't know if anyone else can pull that off.

7. I am sure it will go forward. His part was "in the can". Reminds me of when Brandon Lee
died, and "The Crow" came out. It was freaky seeing that movie, knowing he was gone.

Seeing Heath as the Joker will be hard as well.

8. Didn't they still release "The Crow" after the lead died?
They still released "Twilight Zone" after Vic Morrow got killed in the chopper scene.

They don't make these things to sit on the shelf.

9. Disgusting as it is, the reality is that MORE people will probably chose to see a movie
with an already dead actor in it. The word is macabre.

11. I did not know that, but that makes sense. Killing animals for profit = bad persons
Not quite the same analogy. :hi:

14. The same thing happened with James Dean
James Dean filmed three movies before he died, none of which were released before he died, and they are his entire film legacy. If this Batman movie does contain a great performance by Heath, combined with his powerful performance in Brokeback, it might position him very similarly to Dean as an iconic legend. And Heath's intense acting style was actually compared to Dean (and Brando.) It's really Brokeback that is still going to be remembered long from now, that's his Rebel Without A Cause. It's a little undervalued now because of homophobia, but future, less homophobic generations will rediscover it.

22. Well, I did start smoking because of "Rebel Without A Cause"...
but I don't know if "Brokeback Mountain" will have those same persuasive powers.

IIRC, "East Of Eden" had been released before Dean's death

13. Yeah... they had to do some computer tricks to finish "The Crow"
But all of the principle photography was finished.

Besides, with the budget that this new Batman has already, they would almost HAVE to go ahead and fix it up and get it out... the studio has to recoup it's investment somehow.

It looks like it wrapped up filming before he died, though.
