She likes vanilla and the strawberry varieties. She gets frequent yeast infections in her ears. Shes' a little "bulldog" Staffordshire Terrier mix, about 45 lbs.

Is it o.k. to give her a couple of TBSP three times a week?

1. no idea
but my dog used to love to lick yogurt containers when I was finished with them, big old tongue would go right down in the cup and lick it clean :)

I imagine dog guts and people guts are not that different in the need for bacterial balance

2. my dog also got frequesnt yeast infections in her ears
she was 12 years old before a vet told me it was probably a food allergy! I changed her diet and she got better!

this stuff helped too

3. At the shelter I work for
we sometimes give plain yogurt to dogs when they have trouble keeping their food down. I give yogurt to my dogs all the time.

My dog loves it

And i've heard it's a good thing to mix with food if they have upset stomachs -- so it must be ok! :hi:

6. Yes, it's good for them (plain is best). Puppies love it, too.

7. Yogurt, plain with active culture
is great for dogs. Cuts down on gassiness.

As for the ear infections..."ears and rears", the 2 areas that spell out food allergy. Check the ingredients of your food. Corn is the worst, with wheat and soy close behind. Try to find a food with no corn. No grains, if you can. If it does have grain, it should be rice (brown preferrably) or millet and never as the first ingredient.

You'll pay more for the food, but you'll be spending less for vet bills, so it evens out. She'll have to eat approximately her own weight in the new food before you'll see dramatic changes but it WILL change.

8. I actually have a friend who gives both her dogs a dish of yogurt every day...
She has two scotties. They love it. I guess it does the same thing it does for humans.

9. Your dog has been listening to too much Bread on her iPod.
Yogurt's fine for a dog. When you consider that dogs will scarf down just about anything, including their own droppings, without much trouble, a little yogurt couldn't hurt. And it has way more calcium than poop.
