Why, when I'm working on the computer, does my right hand freeze
actually, just the fingers - and my left fingers stay warm?

Weird.

1. I am guessing
That you are resting the base of your right hand and wrist upon your desk, just below your mouse, and are cutting off blood flow to the hand itself. I do that, and when I do it for too long my fingers actually start to go numb.

8. Stop using the mouse!
Another reason to learn the keyboard shortcuts. I mostly use them just because they're faster but poor circulation and carpal tunnel are additional reasons. You can't eliminate the mouse completely but you can at least minimize its use.

7. OK--Here's real answer.
It happens to me, too. You need better circulation in your right hand. My doctor told me to: Hang my right arm off to the side as though it's detached from my shoulder, leaning slightly, and let it swing slightly, with little effort. After about 45 seconds, you'll feel blood rush to your hand and it'll get warmer. (My right hand just goes numb now, but the same remedy still works).
