Looks like it's on - got the foreclosure notice yesterday
Since we're planning on moving to Montreal, I guess I need to find a job and a place to land pronto, huh. :scared:

2. Are you Canadian?
It can be a bitch to get a job there for non-Canadians.

I've been looking for 3 months, and got some light bites, but it's still a bitch.

3. I read in Palm Beach Post (FL) Sunday you do not have to move
until your home/property is sold!! Many foreclosures here in FL and all kinds of articles like this.

5. In Florida, you have until the eviction which is after the sale, even.
A f/c in Florida takes an avg of 6 months. Matter of fact, a f/c in Florida (if one knows what one is doing) can be tied up for a year very easily.

7. We're not sure what the timeline's going to be
According to my attorney, they'll start the foreclosure procedures, then we'll have 3 weeks to clear out before the auction. Since the house next door to us is up for auction for the second time and they can't seem to offload it, we might have some time. I just don't want to get caught with my britches down.

14. You don't HAVE To get out until after the sale...
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 08:35 PM by YellowRubberDuckie
We have several properties in TX that we have had to evict. If you wait until after the sale, the bank may offer you some cash to make sure you don't trash the place. Not that you would, but they do it just in case, because not everyone is so kind.
I'm sorry you've fallen on hard times. I hope it gets better though.

8. Texass
Not a typo. :P

I might have got it wrong, but I don't know if they'd auction the house with us in it - if they think we're gonna clean up enough to have an open house, oh ha ha. They can bite my shiny metal ass.

10. Shit. Non-judicial state. Have you contacted the lender?
Maybe they'd be open to some type of loss mitigation, mortgage modification or something.

11. Could have been worse
We don't intend to stay, and between the s.o. being unemployed for the past 15 months, the bankruptcy filing and the house needing repairs our engineer should have caught during the verdammt inspection, well...

We stopped paying the note last May. We could cure the arrears (with what $$, nobody knows) and be stuck with it, or save our $$ and get some help from my parents to move.

12. I'm hoping too
I can deal with the weather if life stops f*cking with me. We love the city, have visited it many times, and my family's there, so that should help. The s.o. is immensely skittish about it, but at this point I just think we need a radical change of scenery, damn the torpedoes.
