I seem to be the designated attendee when it comes to family funerals. My family is scattered all over the country so I'm the one who represents us. Don't get me wrong. I don't regret or begrudge it for a second.

I got home about an hour ago. What a roller-coaster. I miss Jim terribly. He was an extraordinary man. WE all knew that. I had no idea that the at least 500 people who came to pay their respects knew it too...

He was a football coach, teacher, principal and administrator in a Cincinnati suburb. He was calm, patient, fair and you never wanted to let him down. He wore Old Spice since I remember and walked with a slight limp after blowing out a knee playing college football.

I saw cousins, aunts, uncles and even my 3rd grade teacher. I spent time in my old neighborhood, at my old school and the old town. So many memories. I guess that suburb of Cincinnati is the closest thing I have to a home. (We moved around a lot...)

I'm in awe of the legacy my cousin left. A decent, caring, kind yet tough man touched so many. I'm proud that I'm part of his family.

I'm heading for bed. OhioBlues and LovesOhioBlues are down with a virus, so we didn't meet for dinner. I'm going back down in a few weeks, so we just postponed.

Thanks to all of you. We all matter to someone. Every single one of us does.
