Have you ever been to zillow.com...
Edited on Sun Jan-13-08 02:12 PM by Writer
and laughed and laughed about what they claim your house is worth? (http://www.zillow.com)

They currently have my home listed at $50,000 above what it appraised for in 2007.

I am going into the back yard with a shot gun and a shovel to look for oil. I'll see you later.

1. My house was pretty accurate.
All the houses in my neighborhood run within $10,000 of each other and mine is on the smaller end of the scale. The house down the street sold for $115,900 last year and they had mine listed at $108. Which is likely very close to what it would actually go for.

3. looks fairly accurate for my town
my dad's house is hovering at a little over 1 million, my house is at 600k. sad but true but that's life in the nicer areas of Oakland, CA, since my brother & I have to sell our parents house this year we hope the price is stable.

4. Good Golly, I want some of what they're smoking!
The house I paid $77000 for last year is now worth $112000??? I think not! Not in that little backwater Texas town!

6. Dang, you made me go look
It's not too bad, actually. Bought it for $115K two years ago (overpaid for this beat up piece of...ahem...) and we're trying to bring it back to life. Zillow says it's worth $127K, which is about right, considering how much money we've dumped into it, and we haven't scratched the surface of what needs to be done, cosmetically).

I'd just like to share this with our nextdoor neighbors--it says their Queen Anne is worth $197K. They'd PLOTZ. It's a lovely house, but nothing--and I mean NOTHING sells for $197K in this town.

9. LOL. Yeah, my mom's house in CA is about 200K more than she just paid for it...
and it has probably gone down in real value since she bought it.

10. I find it hilarious
that all of the houses in my old neighborhood are listed in the 900 sq. ft. range. My ex lives in our old house and it is no less than 1800 sq. ft, our old house, directly across the street, was 1650 sq. ft...what is up with this service
