52. That's my boy Buddy...

I rescued him from a pound about 2 days prior to execution, he was 1.5 years old. I carried him out in my arms to keep him away from other male dogs in the area, and we've been attached at the hip ever since. He is the sweetest boy dog I have ever met. He lives with my parents, b/c I cant' have him here, and I miss him every single day. Sigh.

Funny story:
We used to raise pigs on the farm. I had a cousin who made the mistake of always dressing her son in white and freaking out when he got dirty. She brought him to my house, where my father believed that if a boy wasn't getting dirty when he was out playing, he was doing something wrong. He took him down to where the pigs lived, and he got filthy. They thought they were dogs, and they were rolling around with him in the dirt and grass (not in the mud pit where they did their business). She freaked. Dad sat her down and explained to her that he was a little boy and they were supposed to play in the dirt with dogs and animals. And that they were washable. Needless to say, she chilled out.
But I will never forget the look on her face when he walked in the house that day with mud on his white overalls. It was priceless.

103. A friend of mine in upstate NY had two pigs for housepets...

Zoe and Lucy were probably smarter than our golden retriever.

They were both between 4-500 lbs, and they had their own bedroom, a couple of futons in the living room to lay on while they watched tv (especially wrestling, for some reason), and a back door rigged on springs like a giant doggy-door, so they could go out to take care of business.

Oh... one weird thing... they LOVED bacon. Seriously... couldn't get them out of the kitchen if you were frying it. They would come up to you, nose you HARD, then sit and beg. *L*

Half is reproduction (from a company that makes uniforms for re-enactors). I had fun putting it all together. My next project is to get a circa 1900 Prussian officer's uniform with the dark blue coat and the red color tabs. I wore this to Halloween parties and into a few bars and got some very quizzical looks! One young woman looked rather annoyed as though to say, "Oh my God, not THOSE people again!"
