Police Blotter: Pepper intended to fight evil ends up killing plants

A resident of an assisted-living facility has been spreading black pepper around to ward off evil spirits, according to a police report filed Wednesday.

The manager reported that for about two weeks she has found quantities of black pepper in the common areas and that plants were being destroyed. She installed a hidden camera and discovered that a resident who originally came from Cuba was causing the damage, according to the report.

The woman explained that she doesn’t trust the cleaning crew and is warding off evil they emit.

The manager complained that the pepper is in the air system and is causing her to sneeze excessively.
