John Paul Jones: "There is a band meeting in January. It could be fun to do more stuff."
Led Zeppelin consider future reunions

Led Zeppelin are to hold a band meeting this month to discuss their future, it has been confirmed.

The reformed legends played a comeback concert at the O2 Arena in London last month, which was crowned 2007's biggest rock event.

Bass player John Paul Jones has admitted that no one has ruled anything out following the one-off gig.

"There is a band meeting in January. It could be fun to do more stuff," he told Rolling Stone magazine.

Speaking about the pressure surrounding December's gig, Jones said Zeppelin remained calm despite 1 million people applying for 7,000 tickets.

"For us, it was just, 'Let's get on and do it.' Obviously, it was quite a reception when we did get out there," he explained.

1. Basically they're gonna gang up on Plant and force him to tour
He's the holdout. If you listen to his solo career, especially the last couple of albums, he's hardly the wailing 'baby baby baby' of yore. I think he has doubts about his voice holding out for an entire tour of doing Led Zeppelin music the way the fans expect to hear it

2. But, but, but....
I thought the problem (well, one of the many problems) was that Plant couldn't do two tours at once...fantasy Zepp tour on the one hand, actual tour with Allison Kruaus (sp?) on the other hand.

That was just the last I heard, anyway. I've sort of blocked out any news after that one-off show, because I don't like to think about having to decide between paying for concert tickets and paying my taxes. Those are gonna be some ex-SPEND-sive tix, my brothers and sisters.

4. Plant isn't touring with Krauss for the rest of his life
He does have commitments for tour days with Alison - the LZ concert will have to be after that.

6. Other Plant issues I heard about today...
...from my knowledgeable Zep-freak friends: Plant is currently dealing with the death of an old, dear friend from cancer, which he's taken hard (who wouldn't?), on top of which he's recently lost his canine companion who was with him for 17 years. The bottom-line of which is that he's taking a couple weeks off to contend with these things. So Zep talk is momentarily on hold.

I'm not saying that as fact, but it's what I heard from sources I trust. And lest anyone pooh-pooh the loss of Robert's dog, let's remember how dedicated he was to Stryder, the lyrical inspiration for Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp and whose name he'd call out at the end of that song in concert. Bobby loves his dogs with a passion.

As we all should.

7. I'd rather see them do some new material, quite frankly
I think it would be cool if they did another record together.

I can understand why Plant wouldn't want to tour the old stuff. At the December show, they're were tuning a full step lower, and even though Percy can still belt it out, it gets to be a strain after awhile-- especially if you're on the road, punishing your voice 4-5 nights a week.

A new CD of new tunes would be quite interesting...
