3. I've driven through one of those before.
Coming back from NM, almost to Lubbock when our tarp came undone and we had to get out in swirling dust to redo it. I swear I had 1/4 inch of that red crap on my glasses by the time we were done.

5. that pic is from one of the worst in a long time.
That was from December 2004. There was a major car crash and pile up on Highway 84 outside of Post, TX. People killed and injured. They had to shut down the highway, due to visibility.

7. We don't get that kind of weather here...
:scared:

Have you seen either the cross or the rattlesnake sign?

:hi: (waving at persons unknown, through the ether...)

13. Have not seen either of them.
But I grew up in Ballinger, TX. and one of my classmates parents are the ones who put that giant cross up there.

18. Interesting...!
I drove from the California Bay Area to Philadelphia, and back, in 2006 (6 week road trip) and was amazed at how far that cross could be seen from...I took about 20 shots (thank goodness for digital cams) trying to get the right perspective on it. I didn't get the denomination, though.

Is it from a Southern Baptist or AOG group? Just curious.

19. And don't forget these!

Deep In The Heart of Texas

The stars at night are big and bright
(clap, clap, clap, clap),
Deep in the heart of Texas.

The prairie sky is wide and high
(clap, clap, clap, clap),
Deep in the heart of Texas.

The sage in bloom is like perfume
(clap, clap, clap, clap),
Deep in the heart of Texas.

Reminds me of the one I love
(clap, clap, clap, clap),
Deep in the heart of Texas.

The coyotes wail along the trail
(clap, clap, clap, clap),
Deep in the heart of Texas.

The rabbits rush around the brush
(clap, clap, clap, clap),
Deep in the heart of Texas.

The cowboys cry, "Ki-yip-pee-yi"
(clap, clap, clap, clap),
Deep in the heart of Texas.

The doggies bawl and bawl and bawl
(clap, clap, clap, clap),
Deep in the heart of Texas.

20. Oh yeah!!!
I saw that leaning water tower but I was in "Drive" mode and passed it by...I regretted it later. :(

It was such a cool trip for me...I dropped eldest daughter off at school in Philly, and made the return 4 weeks to California by myself (my wife and younger daughter were in Peru).

That trip opened my eyes to a lot of things...

:hi:

10. I recall a nasty one
back in Dec '66. Lots and lots of blowing dirt. A light pole or two at Jones stadium fell down and squished some cars. One car had this guy in it, but he didn't get hurt.

16. In 2001, we had one that actually blew the bricks off of an apartment complex here.
and also blew over a 5 ft. high brick fence.
