Any Rumpole Of The Bailey fans here?
The entire series has magically appeared upon my hard drive, so I decided "what the hell" and am about to begin watching it before it disappears again.

In case you've never heard of it, the late great Leo McKern stars as an "Old Bailey hack" lawyer who lives for a good murder trial. He's also an expert at blood stains, and he reads the classics out loud like none other. Magnificent voice.

3. Cheers!
:toast:

(I think we need a "toast" icon that uses champagne instead of beer...)

2. I dearly love the entire series (the books are fantastic)
and really, NO ONE else in the entire world could have been such an excellent Rumpole as Leo McKern was. I loved Leo McKern (what's the smilie for hearts?) I have read some of John Mortimer's thoughts about McKern as Rumpole -- Mortimer was in love with his (McKern's) portrayal, too.

And honestly, I think the books saved my life when I was practicing law. The Rumpole Omnibus - 3 volumes of fantastic stories, funny, wry, nostalgic, and very human. Gave me the ability to look at the horrible dragon-like partners at my firm in a new light.

You will really enjoy the series. I need to buy it...
