Radio Lady invites you to view photos from Sanibel Island, Florida...
Edited on Fri Jan-04-08 11:57 PM by Radio_Lady
Please go to this link: http://community.webshots.com/album/561989590XMiKUo

These are Sanibel Island, FLORIDA photos from our trip last month.

Standard Advice: The best way to see these photos is as a slideshow. Click on the SLIDESHOW icon in the upper right light yellow box to get started.

You can adjust the slideshow as follows:

* Place your cursor on the lower part of the slide picture to bring up the slideshow menu.
* The default presentation time is 5 seconds per photo but can be adjusted to between 3 and 9 seconds.
* The menu contains other controls including a PAUSE button.
* Move the cursor up through the menu on to the picture and off to the side to cause the menu to retract out of sight.

Let me know if you have any viewing problems.

Enjoy!

Radio Lady and Audio Al

Of course, Sanibel Island is one of the most photogenic places in the world. Glad we could share it with you.

In peace,

2. The most beautiful sunsets are in the early part of the slideshow.
A choir of angels is all that is needed for these shots!

6. We'll always have Sanibel, GemDem...
Good news... we're off to Oahu, Kauai, and the Big Island of Hawaii in late February.

My globe-trotting husband and I will do this one without other family.

Frankly, I'm getting to the point where the grandkids are a bit sassy and rebellious. Maybe I'll volunteer to take care of another infant or toddler from now on.

Our wedding day - February 4, 1973. We celebrate our 35th Anniversary the day before Super Tuesday, Feb. 5th.

7. We never got back to Captiva! But our photographs reveal that we did enjoy the refuge!

The first time I've seen the pink spoonbills -- I think -- my whole life!

10. We used to hit both of those spots every year with the kids
We'd get a window seat at Mucky Duck of course;-)

But we haven't gone in the past few years-- too much traffic to Captiva, not enough parking at Mucky, and too much time on the waiting listx( And Ding gets a little old after the 10th visit...

Now we just fly stunt kits on the beach and incur the wrath of the locals!

12. You "fly stunt kits on the beach"? Can you tell me what you mean?
Did you mean to stay "kites"?

Not familiar with the terminology.

Thanks, Temeah.

We're off to Hawaii next month. Husband has to visit "the houses of the sun" every winter season.

17. Whoops. Yup, I meant "kites"
Locals think kites interfere with the nesting of one of the beach birds whose name eludes me at the moment.

Honestly, I think that they secretly wish NOBODY would ever go to the island (except themselves, of course!)

19. Yes, that's called the "Open the door for yourselves, but lock everybody else out" theory.

We used to talk about it regarding U.S. immigration, but that quote is not PC enough any more. I guess it's OK for a remote island, though.

13. I'm just washing my summer clothes and repacking them...
'cause we're going to Hawaii next month.

No other family 'cept the two of us. Hope it is a more laid-back time. We had kids, grandkids, inlaws and two friends with us during the Florida vacation.

This is the beginning of our 36th year together. We celebrate 35 years of "wedded bliss" (sometimes we spell it "wedded blitz") on Feb. 4, 2008.

Thanks for your post, Blue Roses. How far are you from the beach?

14. Thanks! We have stayed at Ft. Myers Beach and enjoyed that location, too.
Saves six dollars for the toll bridge to Sanibel/Captiva each time we exited and re-entered.

11. Beautiful photos.
I stayed on Sanibel this summer - I love that island.

We don't live too far from there - wish I had known you guys were in my neck of the woods, would have loved to have met you.

I've tried to get a sunset pic like that (with the rays of light) for years and have not been successful.

Thank you for sharing these. :-)

18. KC2, Florida has fantastic clouds, and of course, there is that unbelievably flat land with
water all around it. You really have to see it to appreciate it.

I used to have an east window in my bedroom as teenager, and I have always been an early riser. Our house was just one level, and was built on a tidewater canal.

Never had a camera in my youth but the memory of some of those sunrises and sunsets is pretty amazing.

20. We sang this song on Christmas Day:
(To the tune of "Silver Bells"...)

Sanibel
Sanibel
It's Christmas time on the beaches...

Find a shell
Clean it well

Soon it will be Christmas Day.
