A thread I made here was mocked on a right-wing website

I googled a phrase just before, and what do you know, among the top hits was a right-wing site that apparently picked up my thread here in the lounge. Maybe you remember it from a few months back, but I was talking about issues finding employment after graduating college and my frustrations at the time. Well, apparently that was deserving enough to be the topic of discussion on this vile website. They copied and pasted what I wrote filled with commentary saying how I was going to be a bag boy at a grocery store. Of course they didn't know a thing about me but they felt they knew enough to assume I was some elitist left-wing college kid with no clue of the real world. Maybe I was once a Republican, maybe I'm a moderate, they don't care. I'm just some fucking hippie. Yet, what they don't know is that I am well on my way to be earning a high salary job in about a few months. But that's not important. While I'm typing right now, filled with rage, I just want to send my message to the lurkers as well as to DU: the generalizations, the hate, the pettiness needs to stop. Politics is not about lifestyle. Don't buy into the stereotypes. Don't reject being compassionate and understanding to other people because you are a certain political persuasion. There are honest disagreements about policy. Don't assume to have people figured out because they may be writing on a left or right-wing website. It is so childish, so petty, I have no idea why people have to go out of there ways to mock and deride their fellow countryman who they have never even met or talked to, because they happen to be on a website you don't like. In about five years if I get this job, I will be making over a hundred grand while this scum types bullshit on his computer. What a sad way to live. Apologies in advanced for grammar. I'm just so disappointed with my fellow humanity.

But being political web sites, it's going to attract people who care a lot about politics, and some who are only capable of seeing the world through politics. But then again, on political web sites (or any for that matter), and even that website, there are some genuinely nice and smart people who happen to operate on a different set of base political and/or religious assumptions.

But it's really the assholes who stick out isn't it?

So someone with nothing better to do than stand outside and peek through the window to see what we're doing here, then run back to his or her pals who have the same fourth-grade mindset, to giggle to the others, "hey, guess what they're talking about at DU" says something bad about you?

Yeah, they're vile and ignorant. But it's pretty amusing that so many rightwing websites have a SPECIAL FORUM for "DU peeping and reporting," isn't it?

So don't sweat it. What do you care what people like that think anyway?

All I said was that I was having trouble finding decent work for a college graduate. Who would have known there are vultures waiting to generalize you, and rip you to shreds. This needs to stop on both sides.

I'm disappointed in my species lately too and it does make me angry sometimes, thinking of the narrow negative mindset so many people have now. Disgust is justified, totally, just realize you are obviously way saner than them.

It freaked me out for a few minutes the first time I found a whole siteload of people just putting down DU'ers, one of my posts was copied there too :scared: it's funny to me now though, funny how pitiful they are.

Every time you make any mention of them it fuels their anger. I prefer to pretend they don't really exist.

I don't think I could tell you the name of a single poster on any of those forums. They just don't interest me.

Some people (like myself) enjoy discussing sports while others don't. Some love conservative politics while I don't. I don't force those who hate sporting events to discuss them with me and I don't criticize them for it. I expect the same about my dislikes.

Just stay away from the sites and you'll be fine.

If they had lives, they wouldn't be reading every word posted here, and making wildly inaccurate assumptions and generalizations about the people on this website.


If they had lives, they wouldn't be assuming that anyone without a job is a lazy bum living in mom's basement. You're better than that. They think that the only measure of a person's worth is their paycheck. What a sad and petty measure of a person's life -- how much money they make, or their job title or how many things they have!! Things can't love you back.


And they have the gall to criticize peoples' spelling and grammar here, when their spelling mistakes are a running joke here, as in "series" for "serious" and "hugh" for "huge" and "casting asparagus" for "casting aspersions".



They're not worth a rat's ass in the scheme of things. Think about something positive instead of those who attempt to tear you down. Be thankful for what you do have -- literacy, determination, discipline, from what I can tell, from the way you write.



They have no legitimate arguments left, so they just attack people. And I won't even get into the depths of their hypocrisy.



So you'll be earning a high-salary job in a few months. Congratulations. Even if you weren't doing that, you'd undoubtedly be doing something worthwhile in your personal life, that had nothing to do with money, like being more positive, being kinder to others, or whatever small or large goals you have.


They only worry about feeling superior to others. Don't lose a minute's thought over it. It's not worth it.
