"Short, but cute"..a question about height differential..
I was thinking about this phrase after reading the recent thread on someone wondering how about the potential height of a woman.
I know that most men prefer women that are shorter then them.
But I was wondering how short is too short? Or how much height differential do you find acceptable? Me and my sisters are all very short (I am 5 feet, my younger sister is 4'9", and my older sister is 4'11". Now my sisters are both married to tall men 4'9" is married to a 6'2" guy and 4'11" sister is married to a 6'1" guy. When I've dated, they guys have usually been in the 5'10-6 ft range.
The "short but cute" was actually said to my smallest sister and it made us laugh at the time. Now, it seems like being excessively short might be a drawback to some men. I couldn't really see myself dating someone over 6'6" or so (a foot and a half is STILL alot).
I was curious to hear what people think and what the biggest height differences between SO is....

1. My high school biology teacher was 6'9"
his wife was barely 5'. They were a great couple, and got along very well together.

3. I'm 6' tall. College gf was just under 5'
Not a big deal at all. I don't think the height differential was ever an issue.

6. I've dated women between 4'10" and 6'0" and I am 5'9"
My ex-wife used to claim she was 5’1”, but was really probably closer to 4’11” She used to say that one of her qualifications on dating was that the guy not be shorter than her. Which, of course, prompts the response that she really did not narrow the field that much.

My second wife is 5’4”/5’5” and has never given me any sort of height qualification.

I would say that a majority of the women I have dated have been in the 5’1” to 5’5” range.

I had a few dates with a woman that was 4’10” and a few others with a woman that was about 6’0”, but never anybody shorter or taller.

I used to work with a gorgeous woman that was probably 4’8” or 4’9” and would have dated her if she was available. She had men falling all over her, though, and looked like a teenager despite being around 30. She ended up marrying a guy that was like five years younger than her, but he looked 10 years older. (they later divorced)

I currently work in the same building with this very tall woman that I would also have no problem dating, if I was single. She is probably 6’4” and 6’5”

So, I guess I am pretty open about heights, though I do remember sometimes it being a struggle to comfortably hold my ex-wife's hand when walking because of the height difference.

7. I'm 5'2". The shortest guys I've dated were 5'11", which is a bit above average, I think?
I never really worried about it. When I was in high school and going to dances and such my mother worried about my getting reasonably high heeled shoes so my date and I would look a bit closer to the same size (he was 6'1" and a bit on the skinny side) but I really never found it to be a concern at all.

I think tall women tend to be less secure about their height than short women do. Being short is just inconvenient sometimes.

8. I tend to go for shorter girls usually, but not always.
I've dated girls all the way from under 5' to half an inch shorter than me, and I'm 5'10. The shorter ones tend to be easier to cuddle with, I've found. But it's easier to kiss the taller ones.

So it really comes down to what you like more in a girl... cuddling or kissing. :P

My height can be a pain in the ass because most women prefer men much taller than that. x(

10. I'm 5'7" and as a general rule, I like my partners to be taller than me
Of course that isn't a strict rule--ThinkBlue1966 is several inches shorter than me, and it doesn't bother me. I think my height preferences apply more to men than to women. I like women to be somewhere near my own height, and men to be taller than me. I love the feeling of being held in arms larger and stronger than mine--it's a psychological thing, I guess. :)

13. I'm 5 ft exactly, so of course shortness isn't a problem.
Tallness doesn't bother me either, particularly, though in general I don't notice physicality of others that much.

My mom is 5'4" and my dad is 6'4", so there's a foot difference there, but they work fine.
